for a 10$ Steam game(35 in my currency), I pay 10 Euro because I'm in Europe( that's 45 in my currency).

Let's assume though a more expensive game, like the newly released FarCry 3, which is 50$( 175 in my currency). That is 50 euro because I'm in Europe, and that is 225 in my currency. I pay almost ~14$ more and my country's economy isn't even comparable to western European countries or to USA.

Oh and also, I've seen games that are cheaper to buy on a physical support than on steam. Where's the logic in that? :

Steam is great for what it is, but new games are more expensive here imo.

IT IS THE ATTACK OF THE WHITE PARALLELOGRAM! It will infiltrate your Hammer editor and prevent you from mapping, thus putting an end to our beautiful WIP THREEADS!

OH no!

Fortunately, a small "suture" to the video card's drivers will probably fix this.

I'm out though, for two reasons really.

1.Source
2.The Ship
I understand reason nr. 2, but 1? I thought you were making efforts to learn source mapping.

Would be nice if TWHL can resist at least until we get 3D immersion devices so we can virtually meet and talk face-to-face. This is very probable by the end of this decade. (although I also imagine the bad part of this: a lot of the population using such devices could be transformed into consuming vegetables if the devices are not coupled with actual physical response mechanisms).
TWHL has been my first tab in Firefox since 2008.

Windows (the OS)

Windows is without doubt the brains of most computers today. The fact that it is commercial is understandable: it simply works. In my opinion, it's simply the best OS out there at the moment, but not because it objectively IS. I guess that a lot of corporations and software developers just chose it as their main platform, and so it grew in popularity. For advanced computer users, there are always alternatives, and one of the best reasons to find an alternative is the price. Nowadays, with distros of Linux like Ubuntu or Linux Mint, it's easier than ever to be a newbie geek.
But alternatives only work if you have a targeted workflow on your pc. Most of us use their computers for a lot of things: internet, multimedia, programming, GAMING, and when it comes to this last part, Windows just wins. At the moment. Also, drivers.

TWHL

A place where I feel home. One of the nicest places on the internet. Not necessarily the greatest forum to have ever existed, but a place where a pack of people know well each other( at least on the forums), and have grown together in this online community. This feeling is erased from time to time when guys like Bruce are brucing.

The color orange

Orange is an interesting and provocative color that I personally like. It has a wavelength of 600nm. I think it inspires energy. Think about it. Oranges contain a ton of vitamin C, and the sun is seemingly orange. Carrots are also orange, and are good for your eyes. TWHL is also orange, and is good for your mapping.

Personally, I can't find another color that is so warm, but at the same time so aggressive and full of energy. Firefox is also orange. Oh hey, look, Avast is orange too.

And Gordon... has an orange HEV suit. Need I say more?

The next person who posts

The next person who posts is quite confused. He does not know whether TJB is referring to the person right after him, or the person after the person after him. But he will try to describe the latter, since he thinks describing oneself is not a good idea in this thread.
The next person is a total mystery. Besides Rimrook's girlfriend, I can safely assume it's a "he". He enjoys an unknown type of music, and is really in love with N/A. His unknown face is always unknowing. The unknown part of this next person is so intense that it almost spawns fear of not disappointing his unknown feelings. It's quite like quantum mechanics!
He is so popular in this post that I will reserve a special question just for him:
How much unknown can an unknown unknown if an unknown could unknown unknown?
P.S. This is stupid. Let's stick to the actual scope of the thread

The Loch Ness Monster or "Nessie"

I never bothered to imagine or fantasize about monster stories, so obviously I couldn't care less about this one. The rare times I came in contact with information or discussions concerning the Nessie story was at the English classes, and they were terribly boring.
I believe people get scared easily by strange or unknown phenomena, and a story like this just caught roots in the masses.
I'm highly skeptical when it comes to monster stories, most of them are crap fiction. That being said, I wouldn't go closer than 10m to that lake.

What are the cons and pros of using a 3D modelling program when comparing Blender, 3DsMax or Maya? I'm quite interested in how some of these commercial programs(besides Blender) offer free versions to students, since I'm also starting college. Also, what kind of other programs have free versions for students?
