Know any other songs or playlists like these? I usually cycle my music style, today I'm feeling metal :D.

@Striker 15 Dec 15 (Waaay too late to comment, but w/e grin - :D )

Use more cleaning solution on those pins, that was a bad solder joint which could crack easily.
The soldering wire is actually a tube with cleaning paste inside it. Additionally I use some rosin flux to periodically clean the soldering iron. I don't usually have problems when the surfaces are clean, although I don't solder that often to be experienced in this.

Uh-oh. Please don't do that unless... you're truly desperate. Even then, it's like something you should never brag about.
I've seen colleagues pass exams like this and it's never a good feeling, because you simply feel cheated.
But first of all you cheat yourself. If you apply this tactic you'll never be able to fully be proud about that result. And believe me: you'll only hurt yourself as in the real world you'll need to solve problems. In the real world you can't cheat like that.

Try your best to understand the stuff you learn.

Shaders Pr0n

So I installed the OptiFine mod, which by itself is quite recommended to have(you can squeeze a bit more FPS on lower-end machines). This is required to run shaders in Minecraft. I then downloaded Sildur's Vibrant Shaders (Medium), and later in the screenshots(later edit: seems like the screenshots were not uploaded in the sequence I took them) I also installed S&K Photorealism resource pack.

The result is pretty damn impressive:

This is not for low-end machines, but should work quite well on mainstream modern graphics cards. I've got an nVidia GeForce 650m on my laptop where I tested this, it's from 2012, and got between 20-25 FPS on 1600x900 resolution.

[EDIT] We're in business! spigot works, and I tested the flying plugin from bukkit which works! ( the particular flying plugin requires that you provide "fuel", I've set that to reeds for now).

So what I want to do next is add store functionality, so everyone can set up a store with their collected items.
I noticed someone made some huge dirt arrows that I assume point towards the spawn area. Who is the author of this?
I did that, in order to not get lost as I explored the terrain.
Orange, Right now mobs spawn at night and the server seems to be on hard mode. However if you die, you keep all your stuff - including XP.
It is actually set on easy. Also the world generator was set on "Standard".

During 9:30 - 11:00 AM Greenwich time, 20/03/2016 the server might be restarted or shut down a couple of times, I'm trying to see if I can get the Spigot running.

I use CoinBasefor my online account. I think it's the "go-to" service for such a thing and it's based in San Francisco, so for you in particular I think wire-transfers work. Yes that's a referral link, but it only works if you ever buy more than 100$, so what the heck. Here's the clean link: CoinBase.
Yeah you can with paypal too, but this is, I think, if not simpler, how sharing the costs on the internet should work :crowbar:. ( although I do have to use other services to trade from bitcoin to litecoin or viceversa if I don't have enough of one coin to pay).

Server address: 149.202.64.130:25590 (I have no idea if this is fixed or not, it could change. If yes, I kindly ask an admin to give me the rights of editing this first post every now and then)

Specs:
  • Location: Strasbourg(France)(Hosthavoc servers): I got about 45ms ping, I also pinged one of their servers from USA and got about 100ms, so this will be playable( I'm sorry for Australians though... maybe someday we'll have servers literally in the clouds and combined with fast satellite links the ping will go down)
  • Memory: 1GB. This should be enough for 10-15 players. There was a cheaper option with 512mb, but I'm playing it safe even though we won't play so much on the server
The monthly cost is 5$ for these specs but I paid using litecoins. Since I'm not going to continuously pay myself for this server, I've set up a litecoin address and a bitcoin address where you can send the coins if you wish to support the server. Here's a link to a text file containing both the addresses:

Litecoin and Bitcoin addresses

This is much easier than using paypal and other services. For this particular matter I ask that you also write a "description" for your transaction if the wallet/service allows you, saying something like "for twhl server from #name# xoxoxo much love", and also announce me through a PM or here on the forum. Please do not send more than necessary, the idea is to support the server and if 3-4 guys donate like a $1 or something, it should be enough. I will not be chasing people trying to send them back the money, this is purely for supporting the server.
The next payment will be on 15th April, I think. I haven't done this before, so bear with me( I also do not guarantee I'm going to be 24/24 solving a problem if one arises, I have a very busy schedule and will mostly only be able to play in weekends).
There are some additional features that I haven't bought because we don't know how involved people will be yet. For example, at +$2.5 we can get a custom DNS, and +4.15$ a dedicated IP. So that would be a total of $11.65 monthly. So if you guys are willing to share the wallet load, yeah we can do this.

Right now the server is pretty much vanilla survival( I actually like it), but there's a crap load of bukkit plugins that can be installed. Not going to stay and configure it this day, but the first thing I'm looking for is adding teleportation somehow.

Since this is a server dedicated to our community, do you guys think we need anti-grief? I mean, I think there's a bit of trust here :).

Anyway, I'm expecting some fellow shouters' here like Tetsu0, DiscoStu and Angry Carrot(a.k.a Mighty Atom a.k.a MuzzleFlash). And a dozen other players I remember playing in the past :D.

Thanks for your swift response. It works:
User posted image
But now I have another dilemma:
The "thing" that emits these particles in my map has a radius of about 1200 units. Needless to say, if I put that radius in the initializer, the sprites will be pretty sparse. What parameter do I have to modify to increase the size of the sprites? Seems like the max number of particles is 5000, but even with that on a radius of 1200 units it's still sparse( plus, not good for the framerate probably).

in Particle editor questions Post #328751
It's easy to create particle systems that are constrained by a box or by a sphere( there are some initializers built for that), but I'm having a bit of a problem trying to constrain the point of origin to a spherical plane.
User posted image
Essentially I want to create sort of a vortex, but particles also fall down from that plane, twisting around the axis a bit. How can I constrain the point of origin to a random position on a spherical plane?
Also, how do you actually implement a life decay? I think it's an "operator" or something, but whateverr values I put in it, it acts in retarded ways, either spawning all the particles and then stopping or fading a few seconds after.

As an advanced question, does anybody have experience with "control points"? Say I want the particles to flow around an object, I'd need control points right?

Decompilers for the GoldSrc engine are only for inspiration purposes. They don't re-create what you'd see a mapper do in Hammer, instead they carve out the empty space from a huge block.
It's normal to be laggy. It's mostly for you to see how certain entity setups were made.

in Statistics[of TWHL] Post #328404
This was a shower idea.
I am now pissed off. I wrote an entire forum post, it's 03:00 AM and accidentally pressed the back button on my browser. ARGH, you'd think these days the browser would remember what you wrote in a form!

I've been recently playing with nodejs and I slapped together some code for a web scraper.
I targeted the "Members" part of TWHL, and since we have over 6500 members registered, I thought I could infer some data from that. Considering the fact that I'm making consecutive requests at 150ms delay, this should have taken about 100 minutes, yet idk what magical thing happens in my code because it took only about 10 minutes. I can't go under 150ms because after 15-20 records the TWHL.info server gives me a 503 service unavailable.

I've discovered that we have some non-existent members: 1922 2611 5921 5968 5969 5974 5994 5996 6002 6003 6005 6006 6006 6007 6008 6009 6366 6366 6367 6369 6402 6431 (these are IDs). The ban hammer was strong with these ones :)). We have about 1000 banned members.

The statistics are a bit unusual and not what you'd expect because the way I took the data( I used jQuery to build a CSV file), and because I only took it from the "Members" area(for now).

TOPs
(EDIT) This is not really a top. For sure the last result has the maximum metric, but you can guess it's just the code logic that gave this output.

Charts

I used plot.ly for this. Keep in mind the plots represent some summed metrics from members that subscribed in the same year.

Member Registrations by year

Finished Maps contributions by people who signed up the same year

Forum posts contributions by members who signed up the same year

Journal entries by members who signed up the same year

Map Vault comments by members who signed up the same year

Total logins from people who signed up in a given year

Seems like 2004 was a prolific year for TWHL, and its freshly registered members gave the roots for this community.

I want to take more information though. For one thing, I want to make some map rankings and comparisons based on different metrics. I'd also like to explore more what can be done with this data to present it in an interesting fashion. If that's ok with Penguinboy. I don't know if making multiple requests does any damage to the server, it doesn't seem to as it has some rules to protect itself.

I disagree. Source is a better option nowadays unless you really want GoldSrc. Anyway, the core concept of a team mapping project is getting things done before the world ends.

I've never played Final Fantasy either. You guys have to keep team projects like these a bit tidier or something for the members that don't have much time like me. I don't even know how some of you adults from here summon the time to map!
