in Custom Client.dll not working Post #328187
Thanks for the kind words :)

Hope it will work out for you. If it causes you any more grief send a mail onto sourcemodding@gmail.com, I check that more often than twhl.

I hope to make further tutorials soon :D

Enjoy your vacation and best of luck :)

in Custom Client.dll not working Post #327784
Hi,

I wrote the above linked tutorial. The error you are getting is at run-time and wouldn't show up on compile because everything probably compiled fine.

Hl.exe cant seem to locate the Client.dll so it throws that error. Where are you placing the newly compiled Client.dll you created?

It should be in a structure similar to this:

valve/hl.exe
valve/<myModName>/cl_dlls/client.dll
valve/<myModName>/dlls/hl.dll

Did the Client fail to copy from the intermediate Compile directory to the above folder?

Did you build cldll from the Visual Studio solution?

Something else to check is the liblist.gam file

in Halfwit-2 seems to be dead? Post #326745
Hi guys,

I noticed recently in the last week or so that halfwit-2 is down. I have sent mail via the email on the site but so far have not received a response. Does anyone know frodo or have him on steam maybe?

It's probably not a big deal for most people but to me it kind of is because I have been doing my best to archive all the older and greater sites related to sourcemodding/goldsrc modding and halfwit-2 went down before I even got a chance to do anything worthwhile.
Unfortunately most pages are not archived on the way back machine and it's truly a shame to see it lost.

Thanks

in Supernatural Mod -Recruiting- Post #305828
Hi,

Im looking for team members to help build a mod on the Source Engine. Supernatural will be based around the universe of the TV show Supernatural. Due to copyright infringement and other issues we cant just make a game based on Sam, Dean, the colt and the Impala but we can still make a wicked Mod based on the show.

About me.
Im 22 from Ireland and i just finished my 4th and final year in a Games development course where i picked up alot of experience in Programming,Artwork,3D modelling and Webdesign although i would like to think my primary strength is as a coder so i will assume that role for the project.

I was approached by another member of Moddb not to long ago asking to help with the audio for the mod so ive taken him on board too.

What i now need first of all before any development starts is a writer(s) and an artist(s). I know from the 4 years of study that you dont just dive into a mod and start coding, you must plan everything and more importantly document everything. I will start with the High concept document which isn't entirely needed since we are not looking for funding or publishing the game but its still an important part of the process in my opinion as it gives a broad overview of the game.

What do i know about source? Ive studied Source indepth for the last 3 years spending quite a few euro on Noesis Interactive DVD's and quite some time on the VDC. Ive made models and compiled them for the engine, ive coded a few interesting quirks and mapped a bit also. Im certainly no expert but im very familiar with the architecture.

Why Source? and not UDK,CRY? another valid question. Im not totally sure why but i have a deep love and respect for the source engine and although i know UDK and Cry are stunning for graphics i think we could achieve everything we need via Source both in functionality and Graphics.

So as i mentioned the next step is a high concept/Pitch document and then the Design document.
Before i can begin work on these i need to have a solid story and foundation that the team agrees on before development begins.

Although i would like experienced Artists, modellers, writers i will accept newcomers so long as they can accept constructive criticism and work as part of a team.

tl;dr;

Need Writers and Artists for a supernatural mod based on the TV show of the same name. all welcome.

Kind regards
Foo

ok you have to go to the resource folder in your source mod and locate the gamemenu.res file if its not there well i hope you know how to use gcfscape cause im not explaining what that does
lol
well download gcf scape and look for the hl2ep2 gcf called
episodic 2007 shared.gcf and open it
in the episodic folder locate the folder resources
then extract the gamemenu.res to your source mods resource folder

the .res file opens with notepad so do that and locate the following lines
"9"
{
	"label" "#GameUI_GameMenu_Achievements"
	"command" "OpenAchievementsDialog"
	"InGameOrder" "60"
}
or something similar
comment it out like below or delete it altogether and then you should be ok

// "9"
// {
// "label" "#GameUI_GameMenu_Achievements"
// "command" "OpenAchievementsDialog"
// "InGameOrder" "60"
// }

do the same for the commentary one
Hope this helps cause its what workS for me

hey all,
Foo fighter here from Ireland
Im sure your all fed up of seeing post about new mods seeking help but i feel this one has a particular edge

Im a games development student in Ireland and im a big fan of Supernatural the TV show you guys have in the states so one day the bucket drops and i decide to put them together and i get

Supernatural:Source

So yes im developing a free mod based on a tv show a popular one at that and i need volunteers skilled at modelling characters like sam and dean,programmers, concept artists and many more basically if you have an input of any measure or size and i approve your in
A knowledge of Source SDK and the engine in general is preferred but not essential
:)
Its a great opportunity to show your talent off and add it to your resume

I really dont need an awful lot of guys/gals with talent to do this
im the only person on the project at the minute but if you are interested in joining the team and have your name pasted in the credits for your involvement in the MOD by showing your talent send me an email at

supernatural_source@yahoo.ie
and check out my wiki i set up for the mod that shows my progress so far
