in Skybox Issue Post #312185
For some reason, at parts of the map when you can see the skybox, it disappears as if not being rendered. I don't necessarily know what's causing this, and I have no idea how I would fix it.

The blast radius was close enough to the tower.

[EDIT]Removing the effect. To unrealistic and it only works on the first round.

It turns out that it was the sunspreadangle! I raised it from 2 to 3 and the problem pretty well cleared out!

I read the Hobbit, and the main differences between it and the rest of the Lord of the Rings is that it DOES drag scenes out and it's necessarily a kid's story.

I thought that the movie was pretty spot-on, aside from the unnecessary made up Pale Orc shit.

I'm really liking DayZ. Its atmosphere is very immersive, and I do like the system of having to scavenge in order to find so much as a can of soda. The maps are open and big, and there's so much in the world around you. I've already had entire adventures on the game, and this is only my second day of owning it.

Windows

Windows are some of my favorite things, ever.

They're mostly rectangular, with varying dimensions for each size you may choose to purchase. It's great to open one and see the property of your estate from below, and it's also a good tool for committing suicide.

But the bad thing is, windows allow sunlight into rooms and brighten it up for you. I always end up having to stable boards over my windows so I could keep the sun out while I write on forums and so on.

Trains

Great for Wifi.

I haven't got a smart phone, or anything of the sort, myself. The highest level of technology I regularly carry around is probably my car keys. Even more so, I don't (need to) take any public transport, except for the ferry.
So really, I'm the worst possible reviewer of this. But still, I can see how it would be handy.

That said, the compo itself is interesting. But why is custom content kept to a minimum? Surely you don't want brush-based vault doors using stock HL2 metal textures?
There's a specific reason for that, Jeffy mah boi.

Where you would use a Vault door, just keep it blank; leave room for a Vault door, but just don't do anything with it.

A hunt; lots of people on a ship, you have to kill one specific person and one specific person has to kill you. Kill other people to lose money, or be banned for doing it with repetition. Pull out a weapon in front of a guard to be arrested. Weaker weapons can give you much more money for kills. All the meanwhile, take care of yourself like you're a Sims characters.

I love it. It requires a lot of thought and investigation.

Hey TWHL, I'm putting a competition out there, with a pretty decent prize I'm sure you'd like.
User posted image
If any of you are familiar with the games Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, and are an experienced Source mapper, this competition is for you.

I want you to map a Fallout wasteland; one with all the dirt, the ruinous structures, the Vaults. You will be bound to the following rules:

1. No grassy plains, no living trees.

2. It must have a 3d skybox that seamlessly makes the map looks as if it goes on to the horizon. (Detailed, at that.)

3. It must have a Vault, but it doesn't have to be connected to the map or accessible.

4. Custom content to a minimum.

5. It must have HDR.

The prize will be the $20 game package of The Ship, The Ship Singleplayer, and The Ship Tutorial. Also, (I'm not sure if this is a limited-time deal that will pass away soon,) when you receive it as a gift, you will be given another pack to send to another friend. The Ship is a really fun and original multiplayer game on the Source engine.

So, anybody interested in the competition?

I suppose a due date would be December 24th: the night before Christmas.

Thanks.

I remember when I was little, I had a fair amount of games on the Playstation 2. But funnily enough, one I played often was just a demo pack of Shadow of Colossus, some of the Sly series, Burnout series, ect.

And I played all of them over and over again... except I never actually got into Shadow of Colossus.

I think I'm going to play it for old time's sake.

t was invented when I was but a wee little lad (6-8 years old) signing up for a MUD. (A Multi-User Dungeon.) I forget the name of it, but I remember it was because I wanted to stray away from the #1, Aardwolf. A MUD is a giant text-based multiplayer game, and it was as addictive as Hell.

And somewhere in the text, it said, "Art thou ready to disembark on thy journey?" I was thinking hard to come up with a name, and I took a close look at the word Disembark. Remove the s and the e and you've made yourself a crafty little name.

It is quite possible to bring peace between them.

Ever do the quest with the talking dog? He leads you to a quest where you get a choice to stop all war; but then you have to pick a side and talk about peace to one of the siege camps, I believe.
