I use SHLT too, they say its better. I also some times use VHLT for testing purposes.

Also, Hlfix is a vital part of compilation, since it fixes the RMF to MAP conversion errors that VHE can generate.

If using SHLT use SSE2 if youre running a 32bit system.

Heh, its not a virus :D

Ive tried everything from changing color depth to editing the registry, none worked!

Than i remembered Tune Up utilities has a good fix for that, downloaded the trial version, ran the fix test and it works now!

Thank god i solved it T__T

Hello Eminem 989!

You should try using Atoms Compiler v1

Its a compiler that much simpler to use than that old rusty Valve compiler that hammer has, plus it allows you to edit all the compilation options!

As well as Wad include.

You should switch to this compiler because it is much more advanced.

Also, you will need some handy apps like HLFix and if you dont use new compile tools, you should download SHLT 3.9:

You can download em there, also if you want you can try the batch compiler, but its more complicated than Atoms Compilator.

All of my icons are gone! What the hell.

Ive been searching for 12 hours how to fix em, didnt find anything. Tried Tweak UI, deleteing icon cache which doesnt exist in the "default" folder, tried to see if im logged on, tried restarting 50x, logging onto safe mode, than onto normal windows...

I cant do system restore cause its disabled.

Here is a picture of the problem:

I used iColorFolder program, and when i clicked ok all icons - gone.

Deleted the damn thing, still no icons...

Im guessing SHELL32.dll is corrupted or something, will try some fixing.

If any one ever had this problem, and solved it, please HELP!
And yes i have original windows if any one asks. (CD key)

Well, you should plan out your map firs, get an idea, plan the thing! It will be much more easer to do stuff, also details will come on the way (while mapping).
  • From my GS experience
Windows should be made with lots of block who are then vertex'd into place. You can always use the texturing tool properties thingy to adjust textures.

Use custom models on some places, i mean, in source you dont need to be so careful when it comes to polys.
Lets say you make a model of stairs, import into your map, and just place clip where the stairs are, less work, more pretty.

But as i said, planning is the most important part, setting the atmosphere and what will the map be about. With out that, its all just blind work.

Well, Breach seems to require lots of memory, since as i saw you can blow up half of the map lol.

But GTA4 should work with out lag, on low / normal.

I ran stronger things on a 2x weaker PC :D

So you should be OK.

Well i would gladly do tests, if any one i know had a gts 450 xD

My bro has GTX 480 (he would rather jump off a bridge than let me test it xD )
And my friends have ATI, what noobs :D

Low FPS for a GTS450 lol

Mine 9600GSO 1GB DDR2 256bit pulls out 220FPS - 300FPS out of CSS (everything on max).

Click on the func_door_rotating and open its opreperties (alt+enter), than go to Render FX and set it to normal.

OpFor is awesome, so is blue shift. I remember playing blue shift on a dark monitor (one of the color transistors was week [almost dead] and the color was very dark) couldn't see sht.

But those were good times. I dont like the final boss in op for too easy.

As Huntey said, Atoms compiler is very easy to use, and it is much more advanced than the built in VHE compiler.

you can use up to 32mb with the SHLT tools.

Do you use batch compiler?

If you do, go to Shared card > Texture data

Edit it to 8192 / 16384 / 32768 or how does it suit you.

I have a problem.

I have 10 Info_tragets. Now i want the laser to target all 10 at once, so i made em with the same name. but when i hit the switch, laser dont to sht.
So ive replaced the system and rebuilt it using env beam. Now, env beam works, but only randomly targets stuff O_o

Doesnt strike all 10 at once, doesnt turn off even when its life is set to 1 and re-strike to 0...

Other stuff works, like env_shake and env_rotate.

This is really annoying, can any one please take a look at the RMF and the BSP, please :<

Well, my map is really large, well long, and in my interest is good performance. The map is made out of 3 long ways, with teleport on the end of each one, and each way is all the way from 1 end of the grid to an other.

But its a good idea, i dunno, im trying to figure out the jet pack example. Too much entity stuff O_o

I want it to seem that the terror is flying to avoid unnececary room building for him. I am making a deathrun map and it should be empty like that.

So, CT run around on one long bridge like construction and terror is flying and pushing buttons (He is actually walking on an invisible solid).

I want the effect.

There is no such thing for GS.

Check your maps main parts, aka where two large areas join and such.

Did you use optimization? 1 point separation, sky connection, NULL / BEVEL texture, hint and skip...

Post us some screen shots.

Go into SPEC mode and check the map out with developer 1 + r_speeds 1 on.

Not really, some GPUs go really high, and thats normal. My CPU, overclocked to 3.3GHz (intel i5 750) works @ 32c

My GPU works at 39c normal, 45c when i play buffed up games.

Keep the CPU as cool as possible to insure a long life time.

1. Power supply is not enough

2. Maybe his motherboard burned his CPU. Happened to me 2 times.

Try your old cpu, and supply us with information on CPU model and MB model as Penguinboy said. Also power supply model.

(Motherboard dies too after that - from my experience) (also, no worry they were just an AMD)

3. Just motherboard.

Since trigger_once doesn't reset each round... Hmm...

Make it linked to something. For example:

Make it so, that if CT want to exit out of spawn, they need to break a glass window or something, and when the window breaks it TARGETS the door thingy you made or a multi manager that activates the door thingy after 11 seconds or so.

That way you can safely use it with out the round error(stuff dont reset :( ).
