No, please! Oh, no no no! I'm tired of those guys who make maps for Half-Life, and then uses on-screen text messages for dialouge! It may work for a few games that have the proper reasons, and mission breifings or other stuff that just wouldn't make sense if you use voice acting, but come on!

I will, I referenced the batteries 100s of times. Also, how logical would it be with a wall mounted box spewing out armor peices at you?
Really, imagine that you walk up to a box sitting on the wall, presses a button, and suddenly you get crushed by helmets and chestplates.

No, but I'm guessing that's why Urby, the one leading this project and who can do whatever with this project, thought when excluding the H.E.V-Suit in that post some pages ago.

The reason not to use the H.E.V suit, is to have a reason to use custom viewmodel arms, and remove all of those voice lines.

If you want to, I can give you a green H.E.V-Suit reskin I med earlier for a mod, until I changed so you don't have the suit in it.

It shouldn't affect the viewmodel, it is silent (exept for a few bleeping sounds), it allows you to use battery power for armor, and most importantly, we can just say it's a powered security guard vest or something if anyone asks.

Of course not... Tough, VOX sounds like a text-to-speech program to me. I know all the files have allready been extracted from the program, but someone on this planet must know what program Valve used. If it was a program to say, it might have been a real voice actor who tried to sound like a tts. We will never know...

By the way, isn't Source 2 that engine Valve is still working on, and that haven't even been confirmed to be released. Besides, I bet that Dota 2 Hammer editor is exactly the same as the standard for every other good singleplayer Source game.

I thought the ground floor would be equal to the chapter "Anamoulos Materials" from Half-Life. No combat, just some sightseeing and some scripted sequences to make the player feel good. :)

I started to play Half-Life after the era of WON. So I don't know what's so special about it. If anything, it's more buggy and worse gameplay then the more updated Steam versions.

Wow! This is awesome. I've got the scripted voice acting done and... Just wow. It's so weird when you hear your own voice coming out of the mouth of a low-poly scientist NPC, even touch I lowered the pitch and speech rate to better fit the model, just wow! I've still got the use sentences and outro speech left, but anyway, it's cool and weird at the same time.

EDIT: My map is completely done now, with custom sentences and everything. I'm just going to pack it up, and then send it in.

EDIT 2: I'm done, and I've sent it in.

I'm pretty much done except for a few errors with the AI of some of the monsters, and the voice acting I'll record tomorrow. Additionally, I will probably add a custom sentence group for VOX announcements.

EDIT: I have an idea for an outre sequence for this mod, featuring a G-Man script, and then you are put into a cozy little waiting room waiting for the next big TWHL group prject.

Actuall, I found that in GoldSource, an idle sequence I've set up for a couple of houndeyes worked good, while in Spirit, they looked in the wrong direction and didn't react properly to the player.
