I was the same boat, so I decided to go back to BF3 for awhile.
The issue is that the enemies you encounter don't seem to level with you like they used to. Easy enemies just get even easier, and the challenge just goes away with the fun.
I wish there was more boss battles. More epic monsters. More reason to want to get money besides buying houses and stupid things to put in them. Sure, you'll want to explore, and a cool side effect of that is getting loot, but that just gets tedious as hell.
I think starting over is good for you. Makes the game a challenge, and gives it more life. Once you get to level 40, though, you'll need to start all over.

Also, here's something that people will never tell you: College is for self-realization. Sure you can go there with a plan and hope it works out, but most of the time it doesn't.
This isn't even a bad thing. You want to figure out what you want to do with a greater piece of the rest of your life.
The most important thing, to me anyways, is just to make sure you get into a school that has a lot of options. State universities are a good start. There's dozens of programs spanning dozens of subjects, and I'm sure you can find something that works / that you love.
So right now don't worry about the future. I'm a Junior at Michigan State University and I still don't worry about the future.
For now just worry about getting into a good school. Then kinda ride the rest out.
(and unless you're talking about a 2 year school, it's actually *university)
