the BSP program, after having received a half-completed file from CSG, generates a executable .bsp file. VIS then add further data to too speed up rendering times and such. This modified .bsp is then submitted to RAD and added the visual data. The final product is still in .bsp form.

in creating a server Post #76102
Configuring a router can be a considerable challenge. Port forwarding is usually located in the router settings, under either basic or advanced settings. If no player is able to join the server, this might be a sign that WAN is blocked (Wide area network). WAN must usually be enabled for servers. Furthermore you should also disable any software firewalls running. They hinder peformance and makes your server laggy. All these settings also gives hackers easier access to your computer so be careful. It's wise to have someone experienced set up these things.

in strings.lst still isn't working Post #75583
Bad news.

Steam has removed the in-game strings and therefor the tutorial has become obsolete, at least that part. Does the console background and startup-screen still work?

Sorry, strings.lst isn't used anymore. The tutorial was written for the old HL.

in strings.lst still isn't working Post #75500
Let's do this stepwise:

1. Make sure the file is called strings.lst
No other name will work.

2. Make sure the path is correct

3. Make sure you've written the number before the string

4. Make sure all your strings are enclosed with " "

If it's still not working, send the file to me and I'll have a look at it.

What a waste of a question. I should read better from now on.

So let me get this straight:
-Names are correct.
-Values are correct.
example 255 255 255 0000 would mean no light.
-In the same folder.

It should work...

in creating a brush Post #18697
ok... Seems to me your entity settings are messed up. Check the angle the door is supposed to rotate. Double-check the name of the func_door_rotating and the target of the func_button. One Character wrong and the door will have a name (--> Locking it) but the button can't target it because the values don't match. Check the origing brush as well.
