The moving hl logo? You need a video making tool. I'll get those codecs up soon.

Well If we proof-read the first post he says he has problems fitting the brushes together.
the brushes just don't fit together properly no matter what i try
It could be grid problems.
Under the map tab there's a couple of options for the grid. If that's the case that is.

in What does VIS actually do? Post #13069
Um... You don't use the pointfile in the shrinking box method.

You just create a block that covers the entire area first. Then onto expert compiling where you untick every process after HLBSP. Then compile. Is there a leak still? Yes? Then your block isn't covering the whole level. And make sure you haven't tied this block to an entity.

Shrink the box a little. Recompile. Leak? Then there's a leak within that area that you just uncovered. Recompile and shrink in small parts until you have the entire level fixed.

And I wouldn't think anyone would make leaks in their maps on purpose other than example maps for Leak tutorials.

One exception: When you're looking for leaks using the shrinking box method.

Logically there wouldn't be a func_rotating_func_rotating. Because that effect which you describe can be created with just func_rotating. Want a fast rotating brush? Mess around with the Entity settings a bit.

First of all it's only the BSP that's used when you're running a server. The rest are generated by the compiling tools for various purposes. If your server crashes then there might be something wrong with your map. Anything odd in the compiling report?

in SOMEBODY IS RUINING MY RATINGS Post #12813
Rating system should only be allowed for members. Each member would only be allowed to rate a map once. This info would then be stored on the server preventing reratings by deleting cookies. And there should also be who has rated this map. People should stand up for what they'be rated.

Atom, this should be considered "important" on the todo list.

The support for third person view was built into HL in the first place. I don't know where I found the code but it's commented meaning it won't run if you compile. But if you would uncomment it then suddenly you would have third person support. It's in the SDK... Somewhere.

in accessing hl's levels Post #12346
ok... If I can put together a decent post :lo:beetween the laughing salvos from Andy's ed.

Seriously, you don't need a decompiler. If you read some of the tutorials, look around on the forums and then open up the map in HL you would wish to copy something from. I can imagine a lot of different ways or approaches to this problem appearing in your head then.

How could this be done? a trigger_once to a multimanager to... etc?
Then you start to try out stuff and eventually get it working. :D

And you will feel much better too than if you had decompiled, I can promise you that.

Ok... Xen might suck. But it's still valuable knowledge knowing how to create heal pools, jump pads, plant's that turn off their light if you get close, gravity, etc.
