I have a computer that runs Fedora Core 3, 1GB ram, PIII. I am haveing truble connecting to the internet over my modem. I am not sure what type it is. Can anyone help?

Your modem is probably a Winmodem. If I remember correctly, the problem with Winmodems is that there is a chip missing that Linux needs to run the modem.

You have two choices: Purchase a different modem or emulate the chip (Google for Linmodem).

Sounds likely. So-called Winmodems rely heavily on software (they're cheap).
