I, personally, am quite profound that people think of death at your ages. You have your life ahead of you, but instead you choose to talk about something that will probably happen 30+ years from now. Besides, its a depressing topic.
I rarely think of death, but thats for my own reasons :|

I do. Something which often occurs to me is "what happens to your consciousness when you go to sleep?"; it's like teleportation. Is the person rebuilt at the end the same person at the start? Surely not: just a clone. How can consciousness be transferred?

Will I still be me tommorow, or will I end tonight, with biologically the same person living on tommorow, unbeknownst to everyone who knows me, a clone. Did this me start when I woke up, my memories from thousands of previous identical beings?

Something not to consider too carefully, as it may result in insomnia :).

I am God = dog am I
Urm...not quite...
It would be: 'dog ma i'

Unless you said 'I'm a god = dog am I', then it would work.

I do, but not about things like that, more immediate things. Besides, i don't think beyond the "what happens to your consciousness when you go to sleep?" question.

Kasperg, you already are a mapping god ;)

notice I did not capitalize the G :o

Rimrook... those are some... um... interesting theories... kinda based on what you want, but thats okay...

Hey, don't worry about what happens when we die...

No-one would really care If I died.. so I guess I'm fine with it..

I'll try and do what I can on this world until my demise... Enjoying myself... Doing top secret work for the military... AND MAPPING!...

I got fired from my regular job, so I got some free time now :)

(BTW, you'd be suprized how much money you can get in the stock market :) :) :) . Good ol' KFC...)

When I think about dead my mind goes thinking, deeply thinking.
I panic and I gotta cry, what is the use of life?
I do the same thing, only without the crying... and the panicing...

Good words Alex. Sleep is a very interesting condition: its a time where the full potential of our minds is awakened. Unfortunately, its not controlable, which is why you have all those crazy dreams.

Freud (I think) once said that in our unconscious state is where the "id" lies: a place where deep, hidden thoughts come out. Some of these thoughts are genuinly disturbing.

Mmm.

Thanks BL!

Strangely, I am the same person in real life and my dreams. If there's something I cant do in real life, I usually cant do it in a dream. You could say that my personality is more than hard-wired, which can be good or bad. The thing is I've never had any superpowers in a dream. :(
Speaking of life and death, I know many people who are more distressed with the concept of eternity. Imagining that there is no time limit to your existence, no horizon at which to aim...

This is a little off-topic, but I also like to think about what a "Mapping Paradise" should have:
-A constant 120 fps, no matter how much things you put into the map.
-An instant compiler, meaning that hitting the "Run" button will run the map, automatically... (Ok, I'd tolerate 1 second for bsp, vis and rad, just to eliminate that "Damn it, a LEAK!"-feeling you get with fast compiles)
-A legion of texture-making elves with the ability to read my mind. Any of those elves working at less than 2048x2048 pixels would be executed.
-A legion of model-making elves.
-A constant LAN party with people eaguer to play my newborn maps...

Hell yes, but why can't the elves be "hot women" instead? :P - Ant

Well, you probably remember me speak of dreams before right?

I'll be brief this time, as I am ever so tired...

I dream of events that are yet to come, though I can never be certain when a dream is just a wierd dream, or actually an event that will happen. How I have begun to recognize it is the fact that one that will happen, I cannot control, where a wierd dream I can pretty much do whatever I want... Pretty fun to fly, mind you.

the wierd thing is, one of these things just happened to me...

about 6 years ago I dreamed of this yard. As I ran across the yard, these people came at me out of the dark. I tried to run, but I could hardly move. I fell down, and the men grabbed me, and beat me. They pulled me into this car, and drove off as I was inside, torturing me.

I woke up, asuming the person I was in the dream had died...

Just tonight, I was walking down a dark sideway in a neighborhood I had never been in before, and I realised I was in that exact same yard. There was a man In a garage, sitting in the dark, smoking a cigarette. He asked me what I was doing...

I kinda said nothing and got outa there.. Freaked the hell outa me...

Thanx for that correction G_KID ;)

Am I afraid of death?.....no..not at all, I watched my brother die slowly
it was better for him to die than carry on with the pain...
None of us wan't life to end for us, but its what we are born to do, so enjoy your time and never leave an argument with friends and loved one's un-resolved...you sure do miss them when they are gone..

Take for instance, I work in an under ground mine, the mine could suffer from a sudden shift on the continental plates thus causing a cave in....No more LeFtY, dead, pushing up the daisy's, snuffed it, met his maker, it doesn't bother me, im content with my life and if it should happen, I'll die happy. :)

yeah, sorry for the rant. But it's so evident that stuff is true. no one wants to believe it, and no one i'm sure, ever will. It's all a part of being ignorant. No one has ever made the connections from thing to thing in the bible, or what's left of it. Also, keep in mind that the church is more of a business than a place of redemption. Originally set up to sell religion and baptisms. Religion has been skewed over thousands of years. The real truth is that there really is no such thing as religion, only a few common understandings can null every religion that has developed over the generations. Understanding such things eases the tension of life, love, and time.

i have other hobbies besides mapping btw.

Did you know that muslims(or some sect of muslim...in...ity) actually worship the same god as christians? They just have a name for "their" god, while we just refer to him as "God". Their bible even says all this stuff about Jesus and stuff in it. Pretty crazy.

How many times are we going to say "nobody wants to die, but they will anyway"?
Posted 18 years ago2005-12-01 18:28:25 UTC Post #150091
Actually, muslims have many names for their god
Posted 18 years ago2005-12-01 19:35:06 UTC Post #150098
that's a good point. they bomb us for not believing in THEIR god. we have the same god, and people are too ignorant to try and understand.

world peace is as simple as calming the f!ck down and accepting the way things are. yet no one does it.

Don't you mean that you bomb THEM?

(owned)

Again, terrorist goals are political, not religious. Well, most of the time.
I'd say that's where the difficulty in achieving world peace lies. Merging cultures, ideologies and values - not religion.

Have you ever thought about "the meaning of life?"

I used to do that, then i realized what everybody should have realized a long time ago: There is no meaning. And if it ever was it?s gone and forgotten, slipped through our fingers and disapeard in the sand of our modern neglecting world.

Think about it, people killing people and having sex on TV, scientist working everyday to come up with some massive weapons to kill others that will be used by a bad leader to make a quick buck and satisfy our need of an enemy. britney spears. computers. plastic surgery. alcohol. Glow-in-dark underware. And under all this you belive there is a meaning with life? If it is a meaning, wouldn?t it only need one of these life?s to complete it? And do all the millions and millions of people have the same meaning?

If god created us, why did he do that? what ever he wanted to do: MISSION FAILED. And if there is no god then what the fuck are we doing here? nothing at all. we are so not needed. no point, no meaning at all.

Life is a trivial thing, you live, you die. like a glass of milk, you have it, you drink it, it?s gone. And sure, people are missed when they die, for a short period of time, then they are forgotten, just as if they were never there only that they sometimes leave memories behind them. And that memory wont be there the next generation.
