Hmmmmmm . . . that's odd. Maybe I fixed that after Version 0.9.

It's a great example map. It contains a few examples for func_train, multi_managers, lights switching on and off, lasers, and controllable guns to name a few.

I recommend it to those wanting examples for things like that or for those who just want to have fun. 4/5.

It's in the rain tutorial's example map. http://cariad.co.za/twhl/tutorial.php?id=52

Once again, I'm sorry for that. I didn't realize that that .wad was in my textures list when I compiled it. I would post an updated version, but I'm too busy working on a vastly improved and expanded one! ;)

Yeah, the Hi-Def pack is great. :) The Disco Party is, indeed, a parody, so it's not supposed to seem realistic and make sense. ;) It's just to give someone a fun map to play around in and a few good laughs.

I do plan on making a mod with this, so how could I create an install program that would include all the necessary files, rather than making a huge .zip file? I know that there are some install programs out there, but I was wondering what would be the best one, or if that would even be the best method . . .

Sorry about that. :( When I compiled it, rain.wad was in my texture list, and even though I didn't use it in the map, it assumes that it needs it in order to play. You can get it in the rain tutorial's example map, or if I decide to make a version 1.2, I'll be sure to remove rain.wad from my list.

Oh, and about the rain.wad . . . I may just use that .wad in level 3, so I'll add that in the .zip file for those who don't have it when I post the next "update."

In the meantime, you can always get it from the rain tutorial. :D

Hmmmmm . . . Okay. :) Let's say this mod had several .bsp's when it was finished. Instead of filling your maps folder with all of them, how could you put them all into one file?

It asks you for rain.wad? There's no rain textures used in Spearhead, though. . . I had a similar problem with barney.wad when switching back and forth between games, and the only way I fixed that was to load a new map. : I'll go back and see what .wad's were used.

Anyway, I'm currently working on the second level, though I may need to go back to the first and fix a weird problem with an env_sound I was having. What happens is that it seems to follow you around, which is really awkward because it's set as water. Oh well, I'll fix it somehow.

As for a storyline, hmmmmmmm. . . I may just make it a long mod. . . :)

Alright, I'm finishing up the first level. I'm planning on making Spearhead three levels.

Okay, I'll work on the double doors. I also need to work on the big red door at the entrance of the storage facility that slams shut behind you. :D

Oops! I knew that statement looked a little strange. As for the quotations, I couldn't get it to work without them. Guess it's just something to do with Windows 2000. shrugs

Yeah, the green laser isn't quite following its correct path. I had the red laser moving as well, but that was a nightmare. Instead of moving along the wall, it started slashing through the crowd in the center of the dance floor! Lol. Anyone is welcome to improve the map, as I've included the .rmf. :)

Version 1.1 is now available! I got it to upload correctly this time, as well, so you don't have to worry about my daily usage limit. It is a greatly improved version. I've fixed the lag problem, so it should run smoothly, not to mention I've expanded the level! You can now work your way around to the metal door you start off by.

An improved version is on the way. You may still download the original, but this one is going to be much better once I'm finished with it! :)

Here are some quick notes about the level:
  • The security guard near the door you walk in is the first victim of the laser, so be careful around there. I had wanted the laser to travel around the room without causing any injuries, but when I tested the level, I noticed that it actually took out the dancing security guard, a couple of scientists, and eventually a marine. LOL! The laser's set for 1000 damage points per second, also, so when it hits, the people explode.
  • If you have the urge to whack or shoot the punch bowl, wait until you're finished playing through the level. That's a quick way to end it. Whatever they put in that punch . . . Lol.
  • The drink machine at the end of the second hall is based on the one from the Vending Machine Tutorial by Vassy. All I did was change the texture.
For more information and details about the level and how to run it, refer to the readme included in the .zip file.

I had to upload the .zip file to Ripway, which has a 5 MB daily usage limit. If anyone could download the file and then upload it again in a comment, that should solve that problem.
