I wonder how do others perceive the quality of my mapping, since I have only ever published 5 1/2 maps (that 1/2 being my rooms project entry which I still haven't finished but there is a halfway done version submitted), only 2 of them of any play value.

I'm inclined to believe they edited out those that answered correctly, but a part of me wants to believe they were a minority anyway.

Yeah I know it's old, but I'm still amazed at the incredible ignorance of some people.

For anyone that cares, today I celebrate 23 years of celib--existence. Let's make a toast and wish for another 23 :P

Yeah I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I'm a computer geek. As such, it turns out I suck at socialising. Lately, the hermit in me has been growing and I've been losing my will to actually get together with anyone. I wonder (and I'd like to be correct) if this is just "the holidays effect", and it'll go away within a few weeks of class?

My birthday is next Friday (Feb. 25, I dare anyone here to remember about it that day :P). I only invited two friends over for dinner, I really didn't want more than 4 people around. I still have no idea why. I just don't feel like it.

I'm afraid that, as I grow a recluse, I will eventually lose my grasp on reality and become a hostile NPC-- I mean, er, become completely antisocial. I'm not sure I can do much about it, I suck at all but the most essential social activities. What can I do, it's the essence of the geek.

After an extense period of observation, I have concluded that women only equal problems. They:

a) complain that we don't understand them, BUT
b) don't WANT to be understood.

Contradictory as it is, it makes perfect sense. All they want is to confuse, stress and depress us. They can be very beautiful, so they can be looked at from a distance. But any interaction with them is sure to cause mayhem and unwanted stress in our psyche. Look at them only from afar, as socially interacting with them in any way will reveal the inescapable horrors that lie underneath.

Therefore, to lead a happy, stress-free life, don't include women in it.

Once upon a time I had a friend. Not a girlfriend, just a chick who happened to be my friend. A good friend. A great friend. One day she decided to not be my friend anymore, and overnight reduced our contact to one or two emails every few months - always pretending everything was normal. After fruitlessly trying to maintain the original status I gave up and let it be the way she wanted - I started being a bad shitty friend and barely gave her any significant attention. After a few years of this, her last email (today) ends with her stating she misses keeping contact with me.

WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF SICK JOKE IS THIS??

Perhaps this is the reason I'll never have a girlfriend. I've had enough, I don't want to put up with this shit.

All that '80s synth... coming from some acoustic contraption made of PVC pipes. So long, electricity!

In case you didn't notice my sudden recent absence from TWHL, I'll say: Hello boys! I'm back!

A few weeks ago my computer caught some piece of malware. I can only suppose that while attempting to fix it I erased my browser's cookies and I got logged out of TWHL. It turns out that after over a year of autologin, I had forgotten my password, which apparently was different than the other password I use for everything else, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out.

I took it as a sign that I should focus on my last exams, so that's what I did. And now, thanks to Penguinboy's Patented Automatic Password Reset System (TM) I am back around here.

Boy, I got a shitload of posts to read now.

I got some sort of virus or trojan this week. I don't know where I got it from, since I always visit the same 10-12 sites which were always safe. Now I was getting continuous popup windows in sites that never had them before and it was annoying the shit out of me. After googling without success (filtered?) I found a forum where someone suggested to run Spybot Search & Destroy. OK, fair enough I think, could give it a try.

But the S&D page didn't load. This couldn't be casual. So I started to think of possible reasons why that particular page wouldn't load, and figured it might have messed up my network settings somehow. It turns out it had changed the DNS server and all my requests were being proxied through some obscure IP. I can only suppose it got many of my passwords too, which I suppose I'll have to change.

I changed it back and I just finished downloading that S&D software. I hope it helps. At least I'm not getting those annoying popups anymore.

I dreamed of TWHL last night. It was a physical meeting of TWHL members in a huge, grey, cubic space that appeared to be a badly textured map. We were intended to progress through a series of similar spaces by following mysterious hidden clues carefully designed by Penguinboy.

So here I was, sitting in a corner, when I noticed I was the last one there - everyone else had already figured out how to progress to the next map - just Penguinboy was there "supervising" me I guess. While I was trying to put together some sort of puzzle, someone appears (I think it was Skals) and offered me some kind of cheat to progress to the next hall. As I'm pondering whether to accept his offer or not, the phone rings and I wake up.

Ah, the plastic smell of conditioned air. I'll never really know what causes it, but what matters tonight is that it's in my room right now.

My house is very hot in summer (and very cold in winter, so I guess it was designed to work with the weather), my father kept complaining about not being able to sleep last summer so he decided to get a few of these curious devices for our bedrooms.

So anyway, what's awesome about it - besides timer functions and shit - is that it has this super cool LCD display which I am unable to read clearly from any viewing angle. Which has this insanely bright blue backlight that is always full bright if the unit is operating in any way. It fills my room with this beautiful blue light all night, affecting sleep as well. I haven't yet decided what to stick on it.

But the awesomest feature of them all, is a mirrored front. Mirrored. As in, with a mirror glued to it. It's beautiful, because from any normal viewing angle, all you'll see reflected is... the ceiling. It's undoubtedly the best design decision they have made.

Attempting to create a very artistic photo of my very ornamental bare bulb reflected in it, I realised the LCD reads perfectly from this angle of view. Now I regret not being 2.40m tall.

Also, it beeps. Every time a button is pressed on the remote. And when it starts up. And when it shuts down.

It took me over two years, but I have finally found out that the name of the polyhedron I was looking for is tetrakis hexahedron.

It's a 24-sided regular polyhedron. Think of it as a cube whose square faces are turned into square pyramids.

Ever had a Gamate? I do have one. It turns out to be a rarity. I wonder if it'll sell well. I don't think I'd sell it, though.

I have three games for it, two of them came with manuals with plenty of engrish.
