I spent the weekend treating the GamingParents forum with a face-lift.

I crashed it a few times, but I managed to always get it back. Whew!

This was a triumph
I?m making a note here: huge success
It?s hard to overstate my satisfaction
Aperture Science
We do what we must because we can
For the good of all of us
Except the ones who are dead
But there?s no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake
And the science gets done and you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive

I?m not even angry
I?m being so sincere right now
Even though you broke my heart and killed me
And tore me to pieces
And threw every piece into a fire
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you
Now these points of data make a beautiful line
And we?re out of beta, we?re releasing on time
So I?m glad I got burned, think of all the things we learned
For the people who are still alive

Go ahead and leave me
I think I?d prefer to stay inside
Maybe you?ll find someone else to help you
Maybe Black Mesa
That was a joke, ha ha, fat chance
Anyway this cake is great
It?s so delicious and moist
Look at me still talking when there?s science to do
When I look out there it makes me glad I?m not you
I?ve experiments to run, there is research to be done
On the people who are still alive

And believe me I am still alive
I?m doing science and I?m still alive
I feel fantastic and I?m still alive
And while you?re dying I?ll be still alive
And when you?re dead I will be still alive
Still alive
Still alive

My wife and I had our second night out without the baby last night.

We attended a formal dinner sponsored by my medical center, honoring employees who have spent the last thirty years working for the medical group.

It took place at an aquarium, so we enjoyed our fancy dinner under a life-size model of a blue whale, and we're surrounded by three-story tall wall-to-wall aquariums.

We're literally swimming with the fishes.

What's also notable was that there was this security camera that rotates to scan the dining area. It makes a soft humming sound as it records, which reminds me of the sentry gun in Team Fortress 2.

So throughout dinner, I had to suppress the urge to shoot the camera out with a shotgun or a rocket grenade.

And Team Fortress 2 has been fun.

It wasn't reflux.

I had a ruptured appendicitis, and the infection was life-threatening. The surgeons removed a chunk of my intestine.

I will never be the same again, but I am still alive.

I am slowly recovering from the surgery, and I am just getting back onto the internet again.

I have a severe abdominal pain.

It started last Friday, and it comes and goes. Now, it's just there all the time.

I got so bad last night that I was sweating beads and pretty much stayed up all night due to the pain.

This was after I worked for 30-hours straight in the hospital.

I went to the emergency room today. After they ran a shit load of tests, everything came back normal.

So I am diagnosed with acid reflux.

I never imagined that reflux could be so painful.

It was also strange to be on the other side of the bed, receiving medical interventions instead of ordering them.

My stomach is still hurting a lot, but at least I know that I don't need surgery to fix whatever I have.

Being sick sucks.
