There are a couple of ways, but this way works best for me:

1. Take a rather sharp implement (a pin or similar). If you can't find one, a pen usually works, as well as a slab of concrete.

2. Turn the CD over, so that you're looking at the side with the label.

3. Take the implement mentioned in step 1 and proceed to rub it all over the label side of the side. You will now some long, shiny gashes on the CD, as well as metal material which will be flaking off. Continue to rub on the CD until there is a healthy amount of flaking and gashing.

4. Place the CD into your CD drive.

5. Wince in pain as it shatters in your face.

I've found that Ant's method works the best.

Agreed, nothing works better.

Okay, I'm serious now. I'm not sure it's the best program out there for the job, but Nero has a ton of tools for burning and stuff, and I'm absolutely certain I've seen this feature in it.

Oh, and it's completely free, but only if you have the right connections. Preferably the kind that don't block certain programs. ;)

By "error bits" do you mean "errored bits" or "error-correcting data bits"? Why the hell do you care?

First you need a special CD/DVD drive that can burn CDs. Then get a program like Nero start smart. The program is free but the drive isn't, they usally cost around a 100$.

Place the disc with the information you want to copy in your regular drive and the other in the burner. Open nero start smart and choose from the menu what kind of CD/DVD you'd like to create or the kind of action you'd like to preform. (image, data, music, video, copy CD...ect) In your case choose copy CD/DVD.
A new window will pop up, if you chose to create a CD then you need to choose the files you want the CD to have. If you chose copy CD, you just need to choose the drive where the CD with the data is and the drive the data will be burned to.
You may choose the speed of the burning procces. Once the burning procces started it may not be stopped, or else your CD will be ruined, unless it's a multisession DVD or a rewritable CD.(not recordable thats the regular type)

Hope this little guide will help.

This is the sort of thing chimps can figure out. Not to mention the fact that in most places it's illegal.

But dave isn't a chimp or a monkey! He is merely a bear puppet.

Anyway now it's absolutly certain he wont have any problems with it. :)

I finished copying the disc with this crippled version of recordnow and it's a 1:1 copy for all I know,

P.S. This is far from illegal. The disc is in shitty condition with deep scratches all over it. I'm copying it to save the music on it. I believe this falls under fair use as a archival copy in the US.

Copyright laws are dickfucked (it's a word). I say break them as often as you can. Seriously, they were better when they were written in the 18th century - now Disney among others've shat them up good.

ZombieLoffe, just remember there's a difference between copyright infringement and stealing. Getting a crack for Photoshop is definitely stealing.

There is only one small diffrence between cracks and stealing! It's not fun! Breaking into someone's house and taking everything including his underwear is fun. :sarcastic:

I would If I had any music CDs. The tracks I like are always sold with 16 tracks I don't like. Wait, I have a "Jurassic Park OST" disk somewhere :)

I wonder, didn't Windows XP have a built in way of creating CDs? I mean, you can legally save your tracks with Windows Media Player and then make a CD from there too, right?
Posted 17 years ago2007-04-01 22:24:49 UTC Post #217715
Windows Media Player adds DRM to anything ripped off a CD. I forgot how to disable it.

If anybody here can honestly say they've never copied a CD, or downloaded music illegally... I'll..... I'll... be surprised! It's just a normal thing nowadays. The RIAA, MPAA and other such groups can't go on trying to prosecute practically every single advanced computer user. Eventually some kind of comprimise'll happen. Mark my words.

What's Elon on about CD burners costing 100 dollars? I can get one here in the states for under 20. It can't be that bad everywhere else, can it?
Posted 17 years ago2007-04-02 04:11:52 UTC Post #217732
about $45 for a DL DVD burner here in Australia

Then obvz it's about $100 for a 24x CD burner, where you live. :P

I've seen CD burners for ?5 down my neck of the woods. Where the hell do you live Elon?

And let's hope it won't be DRM-infested bloat-ware that controls our every move. Unfortunately, that seems to be where we're going with Vista.

Rebel against the system! Steal a song! Woot woot says the warez train!

Buy a song off iTunes, burn it to a CD, and then rip it back onto your PC, free of all DRM. Nifty.

Posted 17 years ago2007-04-02 11:32:34 UTC Post #217765
You do realize there's other, much higher quality MP3s than the 128Kbps ones on P2P networks right?

If you use LAME to encode around 200Kbps, you'll get MP3s that sound much, much better.

I know everything is much more expensive around here. I bet the
40x DVD burner I bought could cost half the price anywhere else in the world, I live in a crooked country. :nervous:
