Hi I plan to take some screenshots of my map.

I wonder if there is a command I can use to remove the gun and hands so that I could get a clean screenshot?

er... remove the guns from your map for the screeny, then put it back in for the map that others can play?

When you start you see "your own hands" and your gun. That is what I want to remove.

err... thats really strange. are you using half life or counterstrike, half life 2? cuz' in half life 1 you don't see your hands or a gun when you have no weapon.

To hide the HUD, enter hud_draw 0 in the console. To show the hud, use 1.
To hide the player weapon model, enter r_drawviewmodel 0. To show, use 1.

sigh muzzleflash, you have no idea what i'm talking about do you? he shouldn't be seeing a gun or his hands when he starts. I JUST ASKED HIM WHY HIS HANDS ARE APPEARING. if it's because he placed a weapon under the player start, remove it, take a screeney, and put it back in. if it's because hes using counterstrike or somthing, use what muzzleflash said.

Read what Muzz said.
And then take the weps out from near the spawn.
If it's a deathmatch map, instead of creating a server, go into the console and type "Map mapname"
without the quotes, of course.

Ok I am using Counter-Strike, a strange thing happens when I write r_drawwievmodel 0 "the hands" dissappear, but when I close the console and click resume game they reappear.

to simplify for best results.
r_drawviewmodel 0
crosshair 0
cl_observercrosshair 0
hud_draw 0

this will assure that everything is 100% out of the way.

half-life has many multiplayer maps...
and quite frankly, the majority are made for multiplayer

just type in the console before you start a game "map yourmap"
Posted 16 years ago2008-01-16 22:31:16 UTC Post #243577
Just launch your icon from the desktop, go for properties and add this (my windows is not an english version, but who cares):
User posted image
So my target field looks like this:
"C:Program FilesCounter-Strike 1.6hl.exe" -console -game cstrike +map de_dust.bsp
Just change the path and the map name with yours.
Only buyzone showing up, if you picked up a gun just simple drop it (defalut is the 'G' key for it).
Just additional: this is also the only way to make the leaves visible with the 'gl_wireframe 1' (or 2) console option, because it launches the game in developer mode, when multiplayer is not set.

Yeah. Just open the console when you load Counter-Strike, then type:

map mapname

hit enter

and you should be golden.

it might have merely been to obvious to mention, but do you not need to do sv_cheats 1 before any of the
r_drawviewmodel 0
crosshair 0
cl_observercrosshair 0
hud_draw 0

commands?

Also, christ thehalflifedude is a prat

Just open the console when the game starts and type all these commands.

sv_cheats 1
deathmatch 0
restart
hud_draw 0
r_drawviewmodel 0
crosshair 0
cl_observercrosshair 0

You can also use Noclip to take screens from unreachable areas.

Edit: i just now realized the there is a second page...
Posted 16 years ago2008-01-17 12:00:56 UTC Post #243610
alias scr1 sv_cheats 1
alias scr2 hud_draw 0
alias scr3 r_drawviewmodel 0
alias scr4 crosshair 0
alias scr5 cl_observercrosshair 0

bind "any_key" "scr1;scr2;scr3;scr4;scr5;"

Or, even faster, put this in a cfg file:

sv_cheats 1
hud_draw 0
r_drawviewmodel 0
crosshair 0
cl_observercrosshair 0

Save it as scr.cfg and put in your cstrike directory. Then in-game, type exec scr.cfg in the console and done.
Or bind it:
bind "any_key" "exec scr.cfg"
