.. was just released!

Download here

For those unfamilliar with Decay (if any), it was an official add-on to the PS2 version of Half-Life, where you play as Gina and/or Colette. No official PC version of it was released. This is the unofficial remake by a team of Ukrainian developers.

More info on the original here.

This should be interesting - will try it soon. :)

He didn't say that. Stop trying to be awesome.
On top of that, the actual game IS out, it's just that it doesn't have an official PC version.

I've in fact been waiting for this, but.. right now I don't really feel like playing it :P
In a few weeks maybe.

sexy alien slaves
They bring nothing new to the mod. Those are the high def alien slaves from Blue Shift and you use the high def pack for pretty much any Half-Life based game.

Ah sweet. I had a feeling this was close to release. Does it have Online Co-Op as well?

I swear this was the first Half Life I played...A friend had it on PS2 back then.

More like mandatory co-op. Most puzzles you need a second player to complete. Me and Hunteh had a blast tonight, finish'd 'bout half of it. :>

Very fun and overall well-designed so far. I'm pretty amazed not having found any bugs/stability issues in the very first release. Top notch stuff.

Played this on the PS2 and its annoying that you lose if a player dies, should be a respawn system or something. I'll stick with Sven Co-op 3.0

Also, Skals. Those alien slave models have been out for like 6 years. They're the basic hi-def models from blue-shift.

What I meant Hunter was they added a system where you can manually switch and I didn't find any evidence of their being an online co-op but your pics prove that there is.

So.... If i dont have half life installed under steam, how exactly do i install this?
Posted 16 years ago2008-09-23 18:21:57 UTC Post #255991
Its a Half-Life mod, therefor it needs Half-Life in order to be played.
Posted 16 years ago2008-09-23 19:03:43 UTC Post #255993
I'm uploading this to my site faster than i downloaded it off rapidshit xD

I kinda gathered that much Muzzleflash. :P

What I mean is, its asking me for my half life directory folder in steam.

Well, I installed half-life using an old retail CD, so it has its own file structure.

Program files/sierra/half-life/

What I need to know is, how can i get this mod working if i got half-life installed like that, and not in a steam directory.

I mean, i guess i could just try installing it into my halflife directory, it might work.

I didn't think lists worked in the forums :P
The forum style doesn't have a definition for lists so it'd kerspode if I put list support in.

Sven Co-op 4 looks interesting.

Judging from the pics, I'm not getting my hopes up on the architecture being too great... or even on par with Half-Life's... but I'll play it anyway if I get the chance. I had been waiting for this for a while, but totally forgot about it.
Posted 16 years ago2008-09-24 06:34:21 UTC Post #256008
it's definately on par with half-life.

I mean the original was made by Gearbox.

Don't try playing it singleplayer - it's bad. Mandatory co-op is correct. Or should be.

It was acting really buggy for me and Muzzleflash, although it might have had something to do with my suckish 300 ping.

One bug i know was not ping related, was we coudln't get the wheelchair guy to do anything when we brought the security guard back, no matter what we did.

So we eventually just grenaded the wheelchair guy and quit :\

As for gameplay, i didn't think it had anything innovative in the way of combat, but some areas were neat, like pushing the test cart (seen in blue shift on a camera) and moving through parts of the destroyed hazard course. I Also liked how high quality the wheelchair guy model, and the HEV/health charger models were. And then some of the prop models were cool, like the pool ladder. diving board and lifeguard stand.

Also for some insane reason, it was all fullbright for me, I still havent tracked down the reason as to why that would happen.

We hit that one. Barney is scripted to run to Wheelchair dude. Pressing E at him disrupts this script as he starts to follow you.
Just find him then leave him, i think.

Argh, then thats my bad, as soon as he got up and started talking i pressed E and lead him to the wheelchair guy.

Wait, thats not my bad, thats the developers bad, they shouldve expected someone to press E on him :\

Well, usually you wait until an NPC finishes his script/sentence before E'ing him. But you didn't. :P

Well, i guess now you know I'm not the smartest person to play with

Slips and falls into slime level restart*

stands next to exploding barrel and shoots it level restart*

enough said.

That's dumb though, you shouldn't have to do that. I guess the developers were either ignorant of this or didn't know there was a little flag that solves this problem. I hate it when scripts get entirely ruined because they expect the player to sit back like they're watching a movie and not play with anything.
Posted 16 years ago2008-09-24 20:13:32 UTC Post #256057
I haven't worked on that map ("no interruptions" flag is probably not on), but I know it'll be fixed in next patch.

Well, I think that barney bug was the only one I saw, unless Muzzleflash remembers any others.

I also liked some of the cool details, like when the security guard got squashed by the fire door, that was some superior animation on that.

I also got a good laugh out of the scientist in the cafeteria who died and did a faceplant into his tray full of food. :>
