I am thinking about buying this Logitech keyboard for myself as Christmas present.

Do you think it's a good buy?

If I end up getting it, I'll write a review about it.

If you like flat keyboards then go for it. It's gotten good reviews.

I still have my about 10 year old office keyboard. Still works great, I haven't even thought about getting a new one.
So spending any amount above like 30$ on a keyboard is quite silly imo. Unless you want custom buttons

Edit: Oh and

Wat my edit got messed up.
What I was about to say was that my 11 year old (yes I looked it up) keyboard which works perfectly fine even in games can be bought for around 2$ now.

sounds about like this one.. i recently cleaned it.. still works like piss though.. theres nearly a .09 delay on all the keys.. and it gets really bad in lag, sometimes doesn't even register buttons were pressed

it's old though, i want a usb keyboard

I have a Logitech wireless keyboard currently, but the keys don't light up.

So I find myself fumbling around the in dark sometimes when I am playing games or when I try to type.

I use my computer primarily at night, after my son's gone to sleep.

Psilous, the keyboard lag sounds like a computer problem, or a bad cable.
And Satch, have you considered a desk lamp? Maybe one of those Pixar-like ones?

I'm going to buy a robotic arm kit for myself, and remove the grapple to be replaced by a powerful light that will shine done on my keyboard, then ther'll be another motion were the arm will move up, and rotate revealing the webcam Im going to have on it... Its going to be leet... now, just need some money...

I've heard it's bad for your health to look at a computer screen in the dark.
You ought to buy a desklamp rather than a illuminated keyboard

PC Gamer love it, Doc; so if you're happy to pay the hefty price tag (and why shouldn't you? It's xmas!) I say go for it.

I've been using a Saitek Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard for about a year now, and I LOVE it. Although, now I've completely lost the ability to type on non-lit keyboards at night.

I payed roughly $100 for my Logitech G15. The backlit keys are immensely useful. I don't know what I'd do without them. Same for the LCD readout... I love having a clock right there.

I have the same keyboard, the G15 The only things wrong with it is the legs, there broke.. put still works great without the tilt :( but I don't need it.

It's not bad for the eyes to look at displays in the dark. That's a total myth.

And why would you want to play games with the lights on? It ruins the ambiance.

I already have a desk lamp, but I don't want to turn it on when I am playing games. I only use the lamp when I am writing something on my desk (which is rare), or when I am reading.

Limited multimedia functionality, me no likey.
You can get a Razer Lycosa for the same price. I've got a Lycosa and it's just an incredible keyboard.

I don't want to buy a gaming keyboard for that reason.

I don't want a lot of extraneous buttons on the keyboard, and I don't want to install drivers for keyboards. It's just another piece of software that clogs up my computer's memory.

The keyboard I use atm.

I do not need all those keys. Also, I keep hitting the email key instead of the escape key.

I had a logitech wireless keyboard with a volume control knob, but the batteries died and it never worked with any others... :(
The one I'm using now is an older one, but has extra web keys that I never use way up above the f-keys. I've honestly never found a use for any extra keys other than volume.
Side note: Since I have the logitech's drivers installed, whenever I press caps lock it displays in large green letters on my screen. Lags games when I accidentally press it.

I don't want a lot of extraneous buttons on the keyboard, and I don't want to install drivers for keyboards.
The keyboard I use has media player controls and the light button, that's hardly a lot of extraneous buttons. All those extraenous keys are secondary functions of the standard keys, and only if you tell the keyboard to enable said functions.
I can even see volume control button on the keyboard you're looking at, and being Logitech, it'll probably come with some drivers.

Looks a little overwhelming. What are the up/down arrow buttons on the top for?
Posted 14 years ago2009-11-28 02:15:19 UTC Post #276121
Volume. All the media buttons work with winamp. So, so useful when I'm running a fullscreen app and I want to skip track.

I cant STAND keyboards like that.

That's why I like Foobar2k, (that's a music player, figured I'd clarify) and its global hotkeys.
Posted 14 years ago2009-11-28 04:30:03 UTC Post #276123
Indeed, ATD. Not only is FB2K much less bloated than other players, the global hotkeys don't require a special keyboard to function :)

YouTube is experiencing a great deal of problem right now.

I have been attempting to upload my video review of the Logitech keyboard for the entire day, and the upload was aborted over and over again.

When I searched the internet, it appears that this problem has been afflicting everyone for the past few weeks.

Yet YouTube doesn't seem to be doing anything to remedy the issue.

What gives?

Is anyone here experiencing this problem also?

I am too. Just leave it going. I know the progress bar says it's finished 2 secs in, but if you leave it, it'll work.

Going with the trend, I'll comment on my keyboard too. It's a cheap Genius which came along with the computer, it has extra keys above the F keys that annoy the shit out of me. E-mail, Stop, Refresh, Back, WWW, Forward, Search, Favorites and Sleep. All of them have an undocumented second function that fucks everything up - say, "back" stops playback on WMP and "forward" mutes Windows' volume controls. Actually, the only one that works reliably, performing its stated function only, is the Sleep key which I use to shut down Windows.

Now, stop all that blabbing on cheap keyboards. Stop being pussies and get this!

Now, that's the ultimate overkill.

It's like buying a 58 carat diamond.

I have a rock for paperweight already. No thank you.
