There are no stupid questions, except this one perhaps, so bear with me.

I got Half-Life 2 in 2004, and played it off and on until maybe 2009, when my Windows XP desktop died. Since then I've been on a Windows Vista laptop that wasn't up to gaming, so I've been on a gaming sabbatical.

But, I just got a Windows 7 desktop, and I've been loading a couple old games, including Half-Life 2 (once I dug through a box to find all 5 disks). So...I got it loaded, I retrieved my dusty Steam login. with Half-Life Source: Deathmatch and Counterstrike: Source, I can go in through Steam, and see a bunch of servers, but when I try to actually join one, it tells me "The server is not responding.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
