When trying to load this map (pointed out to me by potato_invalido), i get this error:

Looking for some fresh insight on this error if anyone has some, NOT links to Tommy14 or the current forum results, which only offer fixes if you have the original rmf, which i do not.

I took the bsp into Crafty and it looks like it's a Counter-Strike Source map, not a GoldSource map. Also, it looks like Crafty does'nt like this bsp very much as part of the world seems to disappear/reappear when viewed from certain angles, so don't be surprised if CSS is going to have issues running this map.

Haha thanks Muzzie for the definitive answer! That this was actually a CSS map! (i figured it was so old, that wasn't even a possiblility, but apparently not!)

P.S. - i completely forgot about Crafty, and i'll definitely be adding it to my active tools list!
