does ANYONE know how to work dedicated servers, preferably without adminmod? just post here what to do. a normal ded server for half life.

when in create a server just check the dedicated server button. It might be in advance options. Then you can talk to people while the server is up with the hlds.exe somewhere in your mod folder. Just use console commands.

I have used dedicated servers, quite a few times really. Heres how it is:
You can only see what people say (boooo) and you dont play in it. All the console command are the same as in a listenserver.

But, If you host a Steam server, u can just open up HL cos they are seperate programs

i know what a dedicated server is, i just dont know how to make it work. another question, can i join the server from the same connection, but a different computer?

and do you have any idea what happens? you get a crazy dos window. ive taken the ip from it and gone to the server on another comp but LO AND BEHOLD i cant join.

If this is for a non steam dedicated server, you cannot join from the same computer, Ive tried. Plus it says when making one

Just use Steam. It is a much better system than WON for multi-player stuff.

steam messed up. keeps sayin i have to reconnect to the steam server cos i chose exit and logout. thats it. nothing bout how to reconnect. not a sausage.
