I used the original prefab but the texture seems... out of place..., slightly to the left. I then copied the trashcan from inthebeginning6.zip.
The map with the barney.... same thing ....

Align them. Press Shift+A, hold shift and click on the bin. Then click L,B or T,R. Or you could just press fit but I'm not sure if that will work with the prefab.

texture lock didn't work, my friend. Why do you have to be such a warm cupcake? You were a noob once, too... so shut your closet door!
Oh, btw, the L,B,T and R are grayed out.... what do I do dammit!????

Make sure teh little 'TL' on your toolbar on the top is indented. If it's not working, you'll have a hard time mapping in the future...its an indispensable tool.

Mr. Anonymous, you dont even have an account, so it makes you look more n00bish if you come in and start flaming people out of nowhere.

If the LTBR buttons are greyed out, make sure youve clicked on a face first.

for things like trashcans, boxrs, computers and similiar use "fit" button (than your texture is always where it should be)

'Fit' is almost as evil as carving. It's important to learn how the texture application tool works.
Did you click the 'insert original prefab' button to create the trashcan?
Maybe your prefabs library is screwed up. Reinstall!
If the textures are only shifted a bit, you can just shift them back into place with the texture application tool.

Well, if fit is "EVIL", than tell me WHY? I want to know. I use fit a lot for smaller-medium things, and everything is good. I don't know why it is so bad to use it :(

As I said, it is evil like carving.
If you know how to use it correctly and what it does, everything is fine.
If you don't know how it works, don't use it.

hah, good point. but everyone ha sto learn how to operate it. basically, when it looks liek crap, then you know you've got it wrong.

also, i can't see the problem tbh, the texture is slightly to the left? well move it to the right?
jesus child, it's really not brain science

and yes, the TL "tool" is awesome. really good for just about everything

yeah. NEVER USE FIT. unless you know it would work well. OR ELSE. IT WILL STRETCH TEXTURES TO LOOK LIKE PURE AND UTTER $H!T.

use the texture application and select all faces that need to be aligned and then choose FIT.

It seems to be as necessary as having a brain to post here.

Fit is helpful on walls to automatically align the textures to fit, hence the name. Just be sure to set the X value to 1 or the desired value or it looks bad. Fit is also very helpful on signs, again, just make sure to keep appropriate stretch dimensions.
