UT2k4 has an Insanely Great editor.

It sets the gamma to whatever Ut2k4 in game format has it set to.

Ut2k4's editor was awesome!! awesome indeed. i like the interface, i found it easy to design maps in UnrealEd. i used 3.0. sadly, none of my maps were published. :(

-- i also mapped for the original unreal tournament

Heh, i've also mapped for

age of mythology.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:17:42 UTC Post #45114
Games:

-Starcraft
-Red Alert
-Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
-Command & Conquer: Generals
-Half-Life
-Call of Duty

Not a lot indeed. Note that I've only finished 2 HL maps now, nothing else... Well, I've made a lot of Starcraft singleplayer missions, the scripting was real fun, and yes, I've finished quite a load of such maps, but I've never kept them... :|

Nah, let's get on with my latest map...
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:18:46 UTC Post #45115
Oh yes, I've forgotten about Age of Empires! :)
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:19:29 UTC Post #45116
wait, you didn't count your compo entry.. for the talking scientists!!
BTW,
I also mapped for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault..

using UnrealEd.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:22:28 UTC Post #45120
if you mapped for so many games why dont you have the basic design knowledge needed to map for all FPS's?
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:22:56 UTC Post #45121
I mapped for TimeSplitters and TimeSplitters 2 on the Ps2. I tried to do some HL maps for Ps2 but I would have had to do some new compile tools and thats beyond me.

I've only finished 2 HL maps. Detention, and The Playtest, wich was indeed for the Talking Scientists compo.

Sector Gamma is the map I'm currently working on, I really hope to release that within a few weeks... I really hope so... Finishing things has proven to be quite a difficult task...

ministeve, what games have you mapped for besides hl??
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:29:13 UTC Post #45129
i asked the question, but since your wondering, i did some work with age of empires 2 editor, and i messed around a bit with delta force black hawk down.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:30:52 UTC Post #45130
really?? i hated black-hawk-down. but my friend seemed to love it.

BhD is good. The film is great, along with the book.

i liked the movie. never read the book. didn't like the game.

my friend really can't get enought of BHD, he owns the movie and watches it everyday to see some errors or something, he has the game, plays it everyday, he probably rents the book from the library everyday just to see if he forgot a word the other day.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 16:52:00 UTC Post #45140
If you liked the movie, read the book. It's better.

IN RESPONSE TO MINISTEVE'S:

if you mapped for so many games why dont you have the basic design knowledge needed to map for all FPS's?

worldcraft isn't the best editor for me,
UnrealEd is. BTW, "ALL" FPS'S
you never saw my other game's maps.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:30:28 UTC Post #45159
i know, but when mapping for FPS's the principle stays the same. your maps show no evidence of previous skill with editing.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:32:42 UTC Post #45163
Unfamiliarity with tools causes you to be unable to express all of your ideas and qualities... don't underestimate that. But well, some principles are the same, that's right...
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:33:19 UTC Post #45164
still- i'm no good with level-ending triggers. but in UT- THERE IS NONE!!! ^^ there's something different there!!
:)
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:34:18 UTC Post #45166
fine. ignore my question. derail the topic at hand with level triggers (which are easy by the way, i just used my first today and it worked instantly.)
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:37:49 UTC Post #45168
BTW, i find i'm better with the opfor mod than with the reg hl game!?!?!
i'm building my first op4 lvl pack and it's coming along suprisingly good!! i fing the op4.fgd is better than hl's
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:40:53 UTC Post #45170
nobody even asked about that.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:42:23 UTC Post #45171

it's off the topic.

  • you can get it working if you know what to do.
-no there not as much of the same as you think (well they DO use the same engine)

-You play as Adrian Shephard
-More Guns!! YAY!
-You are a corporal of a squad.
-the hud is green
^^ come on you know the differences ^^
-more models
etc.etc.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:51:08 UTC Post #45182
the fact you paly as shepard and your corporal dont help the mapping side of things. they help the STORYLINE.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 17:51:24 UTC Post #45183
the first -you can get it working if you know what to do

was to async's USING UNREALED FOR MOHAA?

Posted 20 years ago2004-07-26 19:04:48 UTC Post #45207
I know the differences between OpFor and normal HL. What I was stating is that there arent many more features for editing, or that make editing easier....

New things for mappers:

The new trigger is a trigger_playerfreeze. Whoop de doo. There might be another one, but it's hardly used, I know that.
New Monsters, but they come with each mod.
env_rope.

okay, async. you can get UnrealEd Mohaa version (which exports the map to the correct map format) if you try a search at google. and then try a search on google for something like:
"MOHAA TUTORIALS" or "UNREALED MOHAA TUTORIALS" untill you find a tutorial for unrealed for mohaa. i saw a site once with tutorials on mohaa for unrealed. forget it's name though.

yes doom mapping is extremely easy.
the only view you get is top view, when your testing it you have to press numbad 8 to heighten-lower the ceilings.
