Got home on Friday afternoon from work, switched on computer and....

Cannot find OS on any drive media!!!!

This can be simplified using the following equation:

computer = dead

:(

I'm not forking out for a new hard drive (get this, my BROTHER fixes computers for a living and wants to CHARGE me! ME!!)
So my plan to get a BETTER computer has now become get a WORKING computer. I cannot map, join IRC or any of the good stuff for a while.

Please post any suggestions/condolences to this thread :P

Also may I suggest that the next competition becomes "Build a new computer for poor Sean."

No computer at home....may god and heaven help me.

Yep. You can always format it too (I think you should still be able to do that if you use a Startup Disk).

Im just after realising that i never EVEN TRIED the startup disk!
Damn I'm stupid, It'll at least let me know if C: exists.
All I actually did to resolve the problem was bash the keyboard, knock the mouse about and shake the tower!

Someone kick me in the head please!

right, goin to try it this evening when I get home.
If I'm not online on later the night then the HD is truly screwed.
Heres what im gonna try then,
1. Boot disk (should work)
2. Screwdriver (take the HD out and give its leads and bits a good cleaning.
3. Some priests (To exorcise it if all else fails)

HAHA! Computer fixed my friends! It said C: was an invalid drive so I opened it up with a teaspoon (i didnt have a small enough flat screwdriver, ok?) and the cable wasn't plugged in. Yay! Cheers for the help by the way. Is there ANYTHING TWHL can't do?

Hm, well, as far as I know it doesn't yet provide the recommended daily allowance of vitamin E, although I think that will likely be included with atom's new work ;)

I'm sure some of our members would overthrow (minor) governments for money, too, if such services were required.

I think you should still do the exorcism because im no expert but in my experience wires dont unplug them selfs.

I think that was caused by my loud music (and the fact i have a bloody kitchen table for a puter desk in my room!) The table shakes an aweful lot when i move (to be honest its a liability)
