coughwarezcough (I might just get banned for this so you be thankful, bitch)

You don't really need a photo editing program... MSPaint works fine for resizing, making proper format.

By reading SlayerA's tutorial. :)

I said how to make them. Not how to place them

The tutorial says every decal needs a { before their name. And the transparent areas had to be painted black I think. All that info could be gained from that tutorial. :)

i thought it was white. the bits that show up are black, no?

The decal color is defined in the last value of the texture's color palette (256th methinks)

"wink" The one which opens up decals.wad will find out. "wink" :)

sry but the wad file does not help me.The palette only has colors between black and white on the decal {bigblood2 which is red in the game :)
Posted 19 years ago2004-12-01 12:48:47 UTC Post #75748
also.the black background and white back ground both seem to be wrong "{bigblood2" has white back ground and " {break1" has black background.

The colors don't matter, the color index numbers do.
Posted 19 years ago2004-12-01 12:56:49 UTC Post #75751
I half life textures are 256 color why does wally only have 255 colors in the pallet?
what do u mean by color index numbers?RGB numbers?
Posted 19 years ago2004-12-01 13:09:13 UTC Post #75752
255, 256, whatever :)
what do u mean by color index numbers?
Like, the first color in the pallet is number 1, the second is number 2, the third is number 3...
I think the deal with decals is that the last color value is the decal color (red, green, yellow, ...) and the others are for defining the transparency of the texture (1st being the most transparent amd 254th being the less transparent.)

tbh, I don't have a clue is the thing really like this but it seems to be the most logical way to me. :D

opps sry.The ones I checked where bad ones.(the last color was blue:0 green:0 red:5 so it looks almost black).but I still don`t under stand the background color.I know that blue:255 red:0 green:0 is for textures that u can only see the parts that are not blue. But what is the difference between white and black backgrounds?

How can I have a decal that is red and black (no smokeing sticker to go on window). :)
Posted 19 years ago2004-12-02 15:12:18 UTC Post #76000
I know that bit.But on a no smokeing sign there is a red bit and a black bit.So how do I make it?
Posted 19 years ago2004-12-02 16:05:50 UTC Post #76004
That's not a decal, that's a normal texture, fool.
Posted 19 years ago2004-12-02 17:27:08 UTC Post #76015
Open the .WAD and find the no smokeing sign and copy it! Then paste it and add a "{" before its name ( like this: {nosmokeing ) so it becomes a decal! That's how I do if I need a decal! Remmember to add the new .wad in the zip file so those that download it wont get any error!

(Before you ask: YES! I am better with wally then Valve Hammer Editor ^^)

"That's not a decal, that's a normal texture, fool."
shut up and think.Zombie befor saying things like that.
the only reason I want it to be a decal is so I can put it on glass so it looks a bit like a sticker.
