Fooling around with cameras, I realized you can link a camera to ANYTHING that moves (including NPCs)

All you have to do is name an NPC or moving object or entity, and set that name as the camera's parent.

The monitor texture I used is what I found that works. If you know of a better texture to use, please feel free to leave input.

I used the same idea when I made a security system, I put a camera on each guard, and watched them run around in the big building.
But the map was to ugly to be uploaded on TWHL.. :P

You used more than one camera?

I tried to have 2 cams and 2 monitors... it defaulted both monitors to jjust one of the cams.

It's a bit trixy, but if I remember right, you can do it with an info_camera_link,,
I'm not sure, but I'm experementing with it on my new map, arctic flare. It should be in the next update. :)

Madcow - I just made an airboat with a "rearview mirror"

Airboat with the cam in the rear and monitor small in the drivers view.

I'm addicted to cameras ROFL

Is anyone going to download this?

I like this new parent system,, very useful.
It woulf be nice if you parented a camera pointing down a bit on a flying NPC, (heli/gunship)..
Imagen the view of a nice outside map from above..

Or if this camera could be used in MP, like,, in CSS, and you could put it on the CT players and put the monitors in one of those swat transport cars, and watch them run around while playing online. :D

You can use cameras in CSS... there's a map called downtown_beta_one which has a monitor where the hostages are. The camera points opposite the front door in the lobby.
