I started this map in the spirit, that I will make it in the bumpmap mod. After making the first part of it-the bathroom, wich is a part of doom3:)I decided to make it in normal hl anyway. We tested it yesterday on a quite small LAN-party and it seems to work. All the lights in the map except one can be shot out (thats because that one was already a flickering light, and I couldnt make it to be shootable), and theres a few other stuff that I experimented with- for example the water on the outside has a fake pixel shader effect:))-I hope it really has the illusion...So please rate&comment!

I've updated the map! The house on the outside looks a bit better now;)

Can't open chateau.wad Isnt this for HL? why do I need that old counterstrike WAD file?? :(
Please use -wadinclude for those custom textures, some people dont have cs 1.6 installed...
By the way, it looks good!!

Very neat level loved the lights nice touch!
although to be an hldm level which i know you probably didnot intend this to be needs a little work ie smoother gameplay maybea warp instead of trigger hurt or acave in the cliff side that is accesible to an underground. would it be possible to get the rmf for this(geordiemclachlin@hotmsil.com) as there is great potential in this to be a hldm . I would love to tweak it up with your permission!!!of course you would get full credit
and nice texture on the stereo although would of been nice to have a song accompany it!!I did'nt see any water on the outside at all ????but the water in the center bottom, where the cliffs are is well done. Although it would be nice to have a couple palm trees and maybe an exploration route down there! there were some eyesores in the terrain where you clipped where differt blocks dont line up to make smooth ground from block to block

3stars for hldm(at this point) 4.2 stars for single player map or viewer
well done man I like your style of mapping!

Sorry for that Kasperg, but I had to use that wad because of the carpets in the living room...I think I'll include those few in the csomag.wad, 'cause I don't tihink that I could zip that 7 megs wad file into less than 2 megs...
Btw, copper, that stereo has a song to it, I included it in the zip, you should copy the sound files to the sound folder too. Oh yea, I'm thinking on the rmf thing...but I like it how it is right now, I'll fix a few bugs on it (the cliff sides and stuff, and the weapon placements are a bit crappy too) and upload the updated in a few days...or weeks I don't know:-P

I'll download it when the csomag.wad is updated with all custom textures.
Unless someone knows where I can find the regular CS wads (without having to download the whole mod, of course)

Very good map! I love the water and the house is well constructed! I also loved the sounds, felt real...

Even though you included the textures in the wad file, you'd need to compile the map again because it still asks for chateau.wad I copied another wad and renamed it so I could run the map. :(
The water effect was neat, as well as lighting. I was a bit puzzled by the house itself, since it has no bedrooms and the bathroom is too big in size for such a house. But it does resemble the one from Doom3, good job on that!

Still missing Chateau.wad--please do as Kasperg said and recompile...

Well as with all your maps, I like this one a lot, but I must say it contains some wicked flaws. Most notable you take no steps whatsoever to transition the sky brushes to the cliff, which would be okey possibley if you used a custom gfx file. House constrcuction is blocky and ok, but could be much better, as the same with the super-simple design. Same with the textures, excellent in some areas and horrific in others!

Now, the good stuff:

The cliff and river below looked outstanding, and is very unique from a standpoint of Hl maps! Textures were fresh and nice as well the lighting was very well done in general. Ambients were great, and detail was generally good--which is a big plus imo--some obviously barren areas. Detail in the bathroom however was outstanding.

Very nice job.

I've seen what you can do, and though I like this map, I know you can make it much better. This map is definitely 5-star material, but not in it's current form i'm afraid.

Allright, when I get back home, the first thing I'll do will be recomplying the map, I promise ;) But please give some more info about the house...I know the outside of it looks crappy, but is the inside ok, or what was horrible? Idon't know, that I could do something with that gfx-stuff, I'll try, but I'm not sure

Wow I just wrote a huge comment and it was lost, so here are the main things:

Get some reference pics for small ranch houses, and add details accordingly--crushed stone or concrete foundation, door frame, maybe more windows, maybe bigger eaves/overhangs, trim, front porch, exterior light, mailbox--lol, etc.

Trim the tops of your tree brushes to prevent the user from seeingthe edges--take a look to see what I mean.

After looking at the map I noticed some more excellent detail I missed the first time: beveled bathroom floor by the drain, rotated rugs--very cool!

Remove the null from the bottom of the lamp, it looks bad.

I could be wrong since I am a noobie when it comes to lighting, but the lighting in the bathroom is a bit harsh at points...you might think about tweaking that too.

Walk around the cliff face and remove any of those ugly cracks between brushes--these are huge headaches for VIS I think. Also, hit alt-p before you compile to rule out any invalid solids, and run VIS -full--in expert--to remove that nasty invisible brush near the top.

And last but not least, remove chateau.wad :P

Good luck and looking forward to seeing the changes.

Also maybe make the windows--which I like a lot btw--a bit less translucent.

Random thing: maybe put a secret elevator in the house somewhere--under toilet!--to lead down to the nice river? :)

Ok, cool, thanks for the input, I'll try and change-I don't say all, but-some of these things. As I'm writing this message, I uploaded the map without chateau.wad, and with fixed brushwork on the cliffs. I made those changes on tuesday, but haven't been on since monday...sorry. Anyways thanks again for you're help.

Excellent changes to the outside! With nice detail in gutters, windows, front door stuff, mailbox--lol! excellent! The broken love seat or swing seat was really nice. I also like how you vary things to make them look real--the planks at front door, on side of the front porch cover is taller than the other. Nice stuff!

What were the big cylinder things in the back lot?

Still that nasty invisible brush up top. If you walk around close to the rockface all around, you'll find it. If you still can't fix it by eliminated the brush/that area and redoing it, try the final compile list at zhlt.info, or hlfix.

HLfix sounds like a pretty cool program that allows you to pull of geometry that plain hammer will butcher, but i've not tried it yet.

I can still see the tops of the tree brushes out front, just make the brushes a little shorter, while NOT rescaling the texture.

Very nice updates. A couple other random things I thought of you might consider:

-water in the toilets
-a shower--you could put it in the middle where the big-ass pillar is
-towel rack and towels, soap, running water ambient etc.
-make the mailbox flag a func_rotating and/or the box opens lol

The bathroom is actually really good as it is, but maybe just little tweaks here and there.

Nice work!
