[EDIT 2013]
It's been a long time and the link is was dead. Here's the map that Captain Terror saved and posted it on dropbox. He's a nice guy!
Linky.
Here's my compo . I tested this and it should be error free. I don't know for what reason , but you may need the submerged.wad altough I included it in my compile . Oh well .....

Play and have fun ! :P

[EDIT] I'll have to spoil some things, as many of the guys I send the compo for a test said they couldn't complete it .
So , a SPOIL : when you go to the first question chamber, try not to walk on the floor. Else you fall in the pit. If you fall in it,don't push buttons. It may be obvious to do that, but that is something like second-chance chamber. Instead, grab a crowbar and apply 4-5 smacks on the computer. You'll see what happens now ;). When you're back, be careful not to fall in the pit again, and push the correct button. Then you can go back to the not-rotated stairs and press the button to rotate them .

I've spoiled a little from my compo so you can play it without being annoyed.

Well, yeah, potatis even if that is true, you're being unreasonable... Who's going to scout for errors ?! And especially under water lol ...

I'm trying to be helpful. I haven't said anything bad or good about your map, I just pointed out an error.

I have activated the fan and blew up the container. I can't figure out what to do next, I have even tried with noclip but I can't get anything to happen except me dying at the end of the tunnel. Have I reached the end? If not, could you please send me a PM and let me know what to do?

BTW Striker, have you joined the TWHL Steam group?
Commented 16 years ago2008-11-09 05:54:20 UTC Comment #17161
Yes , you've reached the end , but there's no sound playing ? It should play a sound saying this is the end or something :\

Yes I've joined the TWHL Steam Group and I also added you as a friend in my list :) :P

I loved the beginning of your map, it was very detailed and original (4.8/5). After the rotating stair I thought it was OK (3.3/5). I give you 4/5, I would have given you a 5/5 if the rest of the map kept the same quality as the beginning.
The questions were too easy, the water room too hard, but the map was fun and the way the first question was presented was great.
Good work, Striker.

Thank you . I hope you will rate the same at my upcoming dedication for you know who you are :D
"The questions were too easy" : actualy , I wanted to make them easy and actualy in the beginning project there were supposed to be more than 2 maps and 5 question chambers .

says missing submerged.wad? (i didn't notice anyone else mention the problem is it me?)
Commented 16 years ago2008-11-13 20:01:31 UTC Comment #9571
kay i just renamed a random wad submerged.wad.

HL crapped on me when i got to the ichyasaur(the water fish guy?) i had to ctrl-alt-delete and task manager to get out lawl. = P

Detail and mapping looked really cool up until then. i liked the punchy game_texts too ; )

try to make your stuff as stable as possible or some people will avoid your work altogether, no matter how good the mapping is... i give it a 5 for superb general mapping up until the crash point = )

One thing I forgot to mention is that the alien slaves stuck in the water room produces ugly yellow things. Did you make it that way on purpose? I didn't think it looked good.

"i give it a 5 for superb general mapping up until the crash point = )"
Thank you , but please read the map description . That's just the beginning , and you should avoid falling in the pit .If you fall, search for a crowbar and destroy the computer. Don't push any buttons !!!
If you destroy the computer you'll bee teleported back to the beginning of the map. Now go and be careful not to fall in the pit again ! Push 1945, and go back to push the stairs button. They should now rotate ;)
Thank you for the rating , but that's not all ! :D

Potatis, at first I didn't want to leave those yellow dots(they're errors) .But I thought I should let them be there :)

Captain Terror , you aren't reading my post :D
"says missing submerged.wad? (i didn't notice anyone else mention the problem is it me?)"
I even posted a download link ... in the map description

K. i played the entire thing with all the textures and let me start by saying this map and the scope of the entity work is huge. This must have took you a long time, or at least it would have taken me AGES to complete! = )

++Grand scope of map and project
++Superb entity work (traps, sequences, mechanisms and contraptions)
++superb detailing and very neat ideas
+Good brushwork
+Decent lighting though a little dark through most of it
+good sounds
+good effective use of sprites
+good use of original textures and i loved the confusion room hammer-like ones, specially the water = )

-nothing really flows together, it is a great amalgamation of differing trials. Too random and convoluted imho
-way too long (though i appreciate the grand effort into this
-no autosaves
-sometimes no logical or clear way to proceed (or i am retard which i am)

This map is epically big, and there are many pretty and interesting things too look at. Though i wish the map had a more congealed, central theme, there was still much to admire. The theme you set reminded me of a deserted black mesa or close cousin, and some of the industrial/service-looking pathways gave me the feeling of portal a little bit. Some really neat trap ideas at the end that reminded me of Hunter's 5-ways to die, and some very cool, new stuff that reminded me of nothing i've seen before.

All in all, a grand effort and it's obvious for anyone who's gone through the map. I look forward to seeing more stuff from you, and i hope your next project has at least a quarter of the dedication you put into this one. As your skills get better combined with this, your maps will be epic.
= )

As previously stated, 5 stars.
