Well, I've joined TWHL at last. Hey there all. I'm just here to make some fun maps. Project 1: A School. I had fun destroying the poorstore in Garry's Mod, so now it's time to trash a school!

I plan to make my first map soon, called "Boxtop's Spacestation." Poetic, I know. The basic plot is that you're a guy who works on a Spacestation and is getting ready for a specimen extraction mission on a planet below (not Xen, although Xen wildlife will be there since I can't model for beans.) I'm to add some funny bits here and there (i.e. a couple scis watching Tellitubbies and some others playing Yu-Gi-Oh).

Unfortunatly, I'm completely stuck on the layout after Level B of the Station. It would be a chore for the player to waltz all the way from Level C to Level A, so I might have to add an elemavator. Of course, then I wouldn't be able to add the funny. Small steps, I guess.

EDIT: Whoohoo, bizatches! I got my microphone to work, thanks to the miracle of construction paper and the laws of sound!

I'll probably have two maps ready in another month. One is a SP adventure which still needs an ending. The other is a new type of horror map. Once I'm done with these two I'll probably start on Night Things 3.

Well I recently joined a mod :

www.gang-life.com

All is well...
Nearly HR 17 (Thats like level 17 in RPG games) but very good because max is HR 20 and I need like 50,000 EXP to lvl up.

Site has been slightly updated!
Me and Hunter seem to be playing DM a lot with planes :)

I decided that i'm going to get back to the mapping so my next map is for CS:S as de_boshi was quite successful!

I started thinking what map I should make and I wanted something new so it hit me while I was humming a tune.

de_MARIOWORLD

:glad: :glad: :glad:

I already started working out custom textures thanks to Moppen :) and the layout is yet to be decided.

Since hints are becoming quite an issue of mine, this is what I figured out over the last week.

When we see hints, we usually see them like this
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/8516/hint13mr.jpg

Pretty stereotypical, yet effective to a point. But what if (for some reason) you stumble across a rather difficult section of the map to hint. Like in this picture.
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/704/hint23rv.jpg

Notice that the player can see the hint side of two hints. This can get ugly because too many undesired sections of the map can be loaded at once. How do we prevent this? I found the most effective way. As seem here.
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/5149/hint33tp.jpg

Since Hints can block hints, this guarentees that the section is properly cut. Also, another issue is if you have multiple floors layered ontop of each other. This also affect hints. This "X Method" also blocks that. I've found no flaw with this method and I wanted to show everyone how easy it is to use. It may slice into your map at funny angles, but the results are amazing.

Glad I could help :D
Happy Mapping!!! ...and use hints from now on! geez...
