Make an e-mail verification when registering to TWHL so that fake account spamming can stop!

E-mail verification doesn't really help that though. Besides, most people find those email verification things annoying.

yes,but it could prevent people spamming with fake account, and most people in here check their e-mails often(right?).I remember my 1st fake account here it was "TWHL ROCKS" .I just write a random e-mail adress. And I was in site saying "twhl rocks" in no time. What I mean was...how about making a poll for it. :

Um....kind of stupid, because If there was a true spammer who really hated people he/she would just make a new email adress. Its very easy to get past those kinds of things. And Ant is right, they are annoying.

Boooh for e-mail verification!
I hate it so much.
But, I don't mind adding it on TWHL be cause I'm already registrated. ;)
No more spam accounts!

(And for those who thinks that I got two accounts, FALSE, I just got this one)

Whats wrong with Email verification? Sure some people find them annoying but if you use an msn email then it arrives as soon as you click submit and presto your on...I think it is a good idea.

habboi, why do you think it is a good idea?
We have already discussed that it wouldn't stop spammers. Has it got any other benefits? If not then surely it's an annoying, useless waste of time.

I don't mind email verification, but as Ansith said, they could just create a new account. So for a determined spammer, the only way to stop them is ip banning.

I'm going to write it into TWHL3, but have it disabled. That way, if we have spam problems in the future, we can react quickly, rather than having to suffer for a fortnight while I write the appropriate stuff on-demand :).

It does discourage people a little, or at least slow them down.

Its nice to have an override so admins can approve accounts that get stuck in the email queue and easily identify false ones. IPB has this.
