but everything else is a real pain to get through normal channels.

automatic weapons
silencers
high capacity mags
assault rifles
Im pretty sure assault rifles are legal as long as they are semi automatic. I could be wrong though, whatever.

Is it worth 16,000 murders per year for the right to own a gun? Gun nuts scare me.
That's 16,000 less people breathing my air. And by the law of averages: that's 8,000 less left-wing douchebags clogging the system with their bullshite protests and 8,000 less righties makin' people like me look bad.

I'm not a gun nut, and I don't need a gun to "feel free" but i don't like people limiting the things that I can own because someone ELSE might do something bad with it. That's called blanket punishment and it only works for first-grade classes in school. That's pretty much like a stereotype, and I KNOW you progressive folks around here don't like stereotypes!

Oh yes, it seems weapons can cure cancer and lots of other good things these days. At least knifes are useful as tools. Guns are only meant to hurt/damage.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-20 21:25:07 UTC Post #175718
first of all, curing cancer has NOTHING to do with what I said, jsut for the record. but I will dignify it with a response:

Guns are meant to KILL. Animals and Enemies. Not regular people.

And the radiation that kills cancer comes out of a gun.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-21 02:16:17 UTC Post #175745
depleted uranium kills cancer? I'll have to forward that idea to the UN
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-21 02:37:02 UTC Post #175748
Yes, firearms use depleted uranium rounds. :F Ooooooooooook.

I'm not going to talk about hunting and animals, but your "enemies" are also "regular people" to others (fathers, brothers etc). Wouldn't it be better to use a taser gun and stun them? Nope. Gun makers wouldn't get the money in that situation!

It?s a constitutional right to bare arms, it's illegal to steal somebody's property. The guy probably is real interested in firearms, much like the average CS nut.

They did this after Katrina; instead of saving lives the police were literally using the event as an urban training drill going round and removing people's firearms illegally.

Then they completely broke the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits military intervention in Law Enforcement - having troops on the street, much like the 'crossing of the Rubicon'.

Bush, you're going to jail, for high counts of treason, deception, fraud, vote rigging, and crack cocaine use.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-21 08:21:56 UTC Post #175789
Bush is as likely to goto jail as Clinton is for lying.
It?s a constitutional right to bare arms
Maybe they just interpreted it wrongly and its actually a constitutional right to have bare arms

mmm controversy..
I dont own any lethal guns. I have an airsoft gun, a paintball gun, and a few dozen bee-bee guns, and I am completely happy with that. I have shot a real gun (I don't know what kind, but it had a scope, and it was accurate at 50 yards, and it make an empty soda can fly about 10 feet away) and I honestly don't think the real gun was any more fun to shoot than one of my bee-bee guns.
I have never been robbed in the 17 years that I have lived in my house. My mother hasnt been robbed in her 42 years of life, nor my father in his 48. I think that licensed individuals such as on-duty police officers, and Military persons should have to right to carry a gun.
Rather than a gun to protect yourself, get an ADT alarm system. Rather than a gun to stop a mugger, get some pepper spray, its A.) easier to use B.) non-lethal and C.) a lot funnier to watch the assailant wriggling around holding his face.
Now nickelplate... where did you come from, and when did you decide that you could take over TWHL with your nonsense? :P

I came from another planet apparently. The planet of common sense. your yellow sun must not supply this in it's rays, like the red sun of my planet.

Haha.

You are all really laying into Nickelplate . :/
I admit with the whole arguing that pedophillia is right thing he came across as a prick.
But at the moment, you are all just having a go at him for anything you can think of.

Seems quite unnecessary, with every thread being plagued with argument after argument.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-21 13:25:42 UTC Post #175887
It's okay, I can take it. I knew that making the "pedophilia" point would not be welcomed with open arms. But I chose to do it anyway.

Its because you took EVERYTHING TO HEART when mostly everything I say is utter trite, also you said some really really offensive stuff and I felt you deserved it
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-22 03:09:04 UTC Post #175994
Well, yours is the final judgement, of course. :P
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-22 04:07:16 UTC Post #175997
I don't mind people saying offensive stuff, basically everything's offensive to someone so I try not to take anything personally/get caught up in the hate game/etc.

Hugh, that offends me. You need to conform to MY idea of what is politically correct. That way you can have an open mind, AKA the same mind I have.

I will agree that Many Americans, myself included, Take the Right to own guns very seriously, but I don't think you can take rights "too seriously".

Though I will grant you that many American citizens don't care about most important issues, and hence things stay the same. I suppose Americans are not the only ones guilty of this.

It is true that gun crime is higher in the U.S. than countries with stricter gun control.

However, I don't believe the answer is taking everyone's Rights away. Instead, make the laws for gun crime and subsequent enforcement/punishment of those laws far more serious than they are currently.

Also, most people don't give the ownership of guns the proper respect, hence 100% preventable tragedies like Columbine, and accidents like Cheney blasting his buddy, happen.

Well, jobabob, what if someone told you you could not ever play airsoft again, because someone a lot dumber than you (who probably deserved it) shot thier eye out? Or you could never play again or own the equipment because someone could rob a bank with them. (as long as they never had to actually fire it, bank ppl wouldn't know.)

You know as well as I do that limiting YOUR right to have fun airsoft guns because of what someone else did or might do is very stupid.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-23 18:28:33 UTC Post #176310
That's not at all the same thing.
First of all - airguns are a lot less lethal and hardly ever kill anyone.

I'm not saying "ban everyone from owning guns", and that isn't the case in most sane countries - I'm saying make it harder to get guns, and restrict to them in any un-supervised areas. The only time you should be allowed to hold a gun should be on a gun-practice range or with a proper hunting license (that only covers certain rifles).
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-23 19:12:09 UTC Post #176318
Canada has a lot less guns, and a lot less crime.

It's great fun to move to a country who defends your homelands interests and then slag them all off for being stupid.

Great fun.

So the lives of the people killed by Airsoft are somehow worth less than the lives of those killed by real guns, simply because there are less of them? If even one life is lost, isn't it worth it, to be safe with just a little less fun?

And the scenario you described about the guns, other than being harder to buy, that's how it's SUPPOSED to be here in america. You can only hunt with certain rifles, you have to have a license to hunt, handguns are restricted to people over 21 with no criminal record and you have to wait 30 days for a background check.

The thing that america has is "Old West" laws that allow you to walk on the streets with pistols strapped to your hips.

well, you can't on either coast, unless you did a whole lot of crap to get a licence or are a cop.

ZL, it is like that in the US. its just that just like any country if you know who to talk too or what back alley to walk down you can get around pretty much anything.

TBH, i want a Kalashnikov. Fully automatic. I wanna just let a clip loose into a sandbar or something. And by sandbar i mean a Bar where muslims go to socialize.

If you knew what labour were doing in this country at the moment you would know this is actually hapenning and I'm none too pleased. However you could take this argument on replica weaponry to a piece of wood with a pipe on it, anything can be a weapon that kills someone, airsoft is very specific in NOT killing people.
So the lives of the people killed by Airsoft are somehow worth less than the lives of those killed by real guns, simply because there are less of them? If even one life is lost, isn't it worth it, to be safe with just a little less fun?
Airsoft CANNOT KILL PEOPLE, it is specifically designed so it cannot even penetrate the skin (1 joule of energy max output) IN THE UK, in the US there are for some reason less laws governing their max power, though site rules obviously try to limit the 'bleeders' from being used.

Anyway, replica guns are a totally different issue, yes they could be used to hold up a bank, but so could a toy pistol you spend ?5 on down the street market.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-24 11:09:31 UTC Post #176408
Yes, and toy guns just teach kids how to use one early on. Ban them!

What about if someone got hit in the eye with airsoft? is it like a paintball, potentially blinding?
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-24 11:22:07 UTC Post #176412
potentially yes, like paintball, but so is throwing a stick at someones face, thats why you have to wear face protection on sites by law
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-24 12:25:07 UTC Post #176429
We don;t have any paintball laws. It's why ogrish is still alive. America and Indonesia have to be like the only countries with people posted on there.

But you've made my point. Anyone can get hurt doing anything, why ban any of it? It's only aiding in natural selection. the most clumsy and careless don't get to reproduce after they have and accident.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-24 13:10:29 UTC Post #176444
because guns are DESIGNED to KILL THINGS, they have no other purpose. A toy gun is designed to entertain a child, an airsoft gun is designed for the airsoft sport, a stick is, well, a stick. If you mistakenly use an airsoft gun yes you could take someones eye out, if you mistakenly use a gun you could take someones life, this is the fundamental difference that allows me to do target practice with my airsoft gun in my back garden with a clear conscience.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-24 13:27:36 UTC Post #176453
A toy gun is just like a real gun, you point and shoot. Only the toy ones teach impressionable youngsters that nothign REALLY happens when you shoot.

So without guns... how am I ever gonna kill things?
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-24 14:12:07 UTC Post #176469
