I'm new to Hammer and I can't seem to figure out how to create objects such as a box smaller than 64x64. I am using Hammer 3.4.

make the brush smaller, texture it in the appropriate box texture, select it, hit shift + a, press 'fit'

I think he meant that he couldn't create an actual brush smaller than 64x64x64.
It's quite simple - just press [ to decrease the size of the grid, or just press Shift+W to turn off Grid Lock.
