So I'm playing HL2, enjoying my 120 FPS at full settings and all... and then BAM randomly! FPS = 15-20

What the heck?! Why would my FPS randomly drop down to such a low number? I CTRL+ALT+DELETED really fast and looked... theres no other programs running that would steal power.

It does it in CS:S too. It doesn't do it at specific times, or for a certain ammount of time... I checked the console too didn't see anything that should have caused it. Any ideas? (It did this before I got my Intel Core 2 Duo too)

low HDD space not letting you have any swap files?

Blame Steam, if you can't find a reasonable explanation for the problem..
Everybody's doin' it! ;)

It's really a game killer ><

I have the most up to date drivers (In fact today I think ill try the BETA drivers)
And unless the swap files are 171GB im safe.

Ive heard a lot of lag issues with steam / source games lately.

Lets do what we do best: Blame Steam.

put developer 1 into console and check it when it drops.
Dont leave it on developer 1 because this hogs resources or something.
