Awesome.

It doesnt give a name though. It would be fucked up if they never gave credit. And is it acctualy the one he made, or some rip off?

it is the one he made. I checked the readme.

And upon flicking through the mag that arrived this morning, it's also mentioned in the 'Extra Life' section of the mag.
Falling Water

This isn't just a playable map for HL2, but the architectural study of a famous house in the Pennsylvania woods, nicknamed "Falling Water" by its creator, Frank Lloyd Wright.
Architecture geeks have been hugely excited by the project, which recreates the legendary home using floorplans and photos. As commentator Geoff Manaugh observes: "Architectural schools could instantly boost students' morale if their course orientation packets came with a videogame wherin users go around blowing up anything built by Le Corbusier... Or Space Invaders: The Next Generation, where you defend 100,000 acres of Colorado wilderness from architecturally unimaginitive suburban housing"
And the picture has a caption saying "'Collection of boxes' just didn't have the same ring"

No credit to Kasperg, appart from in the readme.

Posted 17 years ago2006-10-21 19:09:40 UTC Post #200327
and why couldn't they use kasberg as a name? its just as important in situations like this
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-21 19:16:50 UTC Post #200328
Thanks!
I don't know if it's right to sell a DVD with something you haven't made without even contacting the author... Playbus was asked permission before his Day13 map (or 14, was it?) was mentioned in a magazine.

I can't really complain because the house itself is not my design. Still, It would have been great if they had contacted me so I could make a mini comment about the scenario...

The map became famous about two months ago, when it started appearing in multiple gaming and architecture blogs, and eventually in the wikipedia entry for the real house. I've even gotten some emails from architects asking about the map & stuff. I usually tell them Hammer takes some years of practice...

Anyway, whoever plays the map will see my name in at least 3 different places inside the map. I made sure of that! :D
I wonder what will happen when I release cs_fallingwater, which will be very soon by the way!

The Colorado bit is funny because it's sadly so true. Ten years ago we could drive for twenty minutes and be in the foothills with plenty of open space. Now we drive for two hours into the mountains and still see new development. It sucks.

I write sometimes reviews about "Best css/hl2dm map design" - here them: spring, summer and autumn of 2006. In autumn review a had "dm_fallingwater_rc1" - but then i write review i didn't now who is author  - maybe replace this rc1 version with anwer? On cs_ version lights inside building more pleasure.
