I recently learned of a new laptop hard drive that will be available soon after the official release of Vista that is to be marketed towards gamers (as well as another groups of which I can`t remember), and I thought I`d see what gamers think of it. So here is a quick poll to find out.

Remember, as the drive is marketed for gamers, this is likely to be your largely used gaming comp, so vote accordingly. So here we go.

If you were getting a laptop, which hard drive would u get?

1) a 100GB 7200RPM
2) a 160GB 5400RPM
3) a 300GB 4200RPM

well, 300GB is bloody big for a laptop HD - but I would find it hard to avoid the 7200RPM, would feel just like a desktop. Depends on what you have on your laptop.

If you have films, etc, then probably the 160GB, other the 100GB definately.

I doubt you could actually fill the 300GB anyway! :P

I've got like 4 hard drives in my PC and two of them are full ;P - and they're about 160gb each or so. Movies and music fill up your space quick quick.

I would go with the 160 or 100 - They've got a decent RPM and decent space. If you need extra storage just get an external HDD.

100GB 7200RPM personally.

If it's a gaming laptop particularly (like mine is), I want a drive with fast access speeds so I don't have to sit there loading shit all the time. I suggest you buy a larger, external drive that you can use for MP3s and other shit that needs more space than a fast HDD.

I have a 7200RPM, 100GB drive in my MacBook Pro and there's no way I could handle gaming on a slower drive now that I've used this one.

Damn you, I have this 3200 RPM harddrive on this computer. It's large (120GB), but so slow.

I had a 4200 RPM drive with 2MB cache and it was painfully slow. Upgraded it to a 7200 RPM drive with 8MB cache and it made a huge difference. Never going back. Unless you really need the storage space, go with the 7200 RPM.

Well...guess this means that Fujitsu better find a better demo to market to.

If your laptop is your primary machine, you can never have enough space. ;)

3)

Even the best gaming laptops that I've seen recently--most--only have 5400s. I'd settle for a slower speed knowing I'd never run out of space for a long, long time ;)

This may sound like a noob question, but does anyone know if the faster ones wear out sooner? (lol)
