I just read the thread about the best map/mod of the month compo, and I thought that there are many rewards for making great SP/MP maps.
We have the normal compo trophies, the new monthly compo reviews and the rating system.
However, we have no rewards for examplemap makers what so ever, and I think there should be.
I think people who help other people should deserve their own reward for it.
Like, the best examplemap of the month, or whatever.

If a competition like this was created than I think more people would be incouraged to make examplemaps.
And people come to this site to learn right? So, more examplemaps might also lead to more members.

What's your opinion?

Desperate for an award Moocow? Sounds like an alright idea but remember the mods have lives so it is up to them if they want to give up their time to award these to people.

Well, if it works the same as the monthly award which was just created then most of the work would be done by the standard members.

The idea sounds fair, though you have to agree, we don't get that many example maps to give them their own competition.
And letting example maps compete against completed projects in MotM wouldn't give them much of a chance in winning anything.
I think a Map Vault award would be much more apropriate for posting helpful example maps.

It's a good idea, but i bet if you could get awards for example maps, people would send those in every day.

The example maps section needs some looking over.
I mean, we got about 3 example maps showing how a elevator works..

These monthly map awards are awesome tho, I hardly map anymore, but I still love to run other people's maps and review them for them.

I think you deserve an award for awesome mapping anyway, even if you only have three maps in the Vault so far.

Madcow deserved a map vault award tbh, he doesn't really review maps, but he has added some great example maps to the vault.

And while we're at it I noticed I didn't get a tutorial award Yes I've known for some time Seventh. I bet it was because I kept hassling you.

Could I have ant, or perhaps 7ths opinion on an award like this...
I guess those are the opinions which really counts

Maybe, as Daubster said, a new compo just for example maps would be a bit too much since there aren't so many posters, but a map vault award to those who post x many useful examples could work?
