how can i install hammer on a computer(laptop specificly) with no internet?
(couldnt get the entire topic in the actual subject so here :P)

i have steam and hammer on this computer, problem being my laptop has no internet access most of the day andid like to use my many breaks between classes to create maps, its unable to actually run HL2 and i dont see how i can install steam on it without any internet connection on it..

couldnt even get hammer to work without steam on this computer so no idea how to get it to work on my laptop

help needed... a drink to the one who helps!~

Well you need internet for the startup.
With an internet connection you can get everything set-up, download everything, update everything, and then when you're disconnected, you can run Steam in off-line mode.

Everything works the same, only you're off-line.

Steam is a bit touchy with off-line mode so it doesn't work 100% of the time.

the laptop i have doesnt even have a network card, it does have an old time modem, tho i think downloading sdk be abit too much for that.

Borrow a USB-WiFi card and use public WiFi?

well... you can put all the files into your laptop via a CD (just compress the whole steam folder into cd-size files (700mb each)) and transfer them onto the laptop one at a time.

Then you can use the modem for updates.
You might have some registry glitches, but the updates should iron out as long as you have a valid username.
Try that out.

thanks tetsu0 ill try that, wish wifi was more common here or that couldve been an option.
