Hi. I'm quite new to Hammer... and you probably have realised by my previous thread... and soon after you read this post...

I'm wondering how to make the sky more summer looking. Like, I use the skybox texture that makes it look like the word "SKYBOX", and the sky looks really miserable and like it's going to rain.

Is there a way I can make it look more sunny and not so full of dark clouds?

Cheers

Hi! I'm also new to hammer and was wondering about that too. I found out how to change the "weather" yesterday:

You might for example use the dust sky. Name is "sky_dust" (without the (hdr)). More skies in the sky list:

Have fun mapping!

What he said, but there is more.

You can use HDR to create some beautiful effects too.
And also add a spritebased sun which makes it look very summerish.

To use HDR you will need cubemaps in every room and open area in your map.
Notice that they should all be in player head hight.
Glows, lights and anything lightrelated often has a HDR multiple and color thing which lets you alter the brightness and color of the HDR effect.

To compile with HDR you will need to check the hdr box in the compile window.

Takes a lot of experimenting to get used to it, so I suggest making a separate test map just for experimenting.

Have fun

Thanks for the link R1Co, I'll have a look around and experiement.

Thanks Madcow, but I don't want to use HDR. It looks great, but it increases compiling and stuff. It's not necessary for what I'm doing as well. Thanks anyway, I appreciate your help.
