Anyone know why my computer monitor is displaying everything "Icons, fonts" really big? Also there are yellow dotted vertical lines and the graphics are horrible. Something to do with the graphics card? I messed with the properties settings but nothing.

I was playing cs source last night, could have something to do with it? ...

It's possible that CS crashed and locked your monitor in a smaller resolution (if you play CS in a smaller resolution than your native res). If that's the case, you should just be able to switch it back.

Unless it was your monitor that was fuked up. Though it's probably your graphics card. Check device manager, maybe the drivers somehow got corrupted, in that case reinstalling them should fix it.

Yeah, sounds like your Graphics card is busted. Yellow dots, other graphical Anomalies and shitty graphics are the usual symptoms.
Check if your GPU has a lot of dust on it. If it has, it probably overheated last night.

Yeah my last graphics card blew some capacitors and it put blue dots all over some objects in The Sims. It took me months to figure out, and it was only when the whole screen started flashing black :P

Before you try anything, try Tune UP repair sequence.

By downloading Tune Up?

Well before I try that i've tryed reinstalling the video driver and it is unable to do so. Someone else had the very same problem after playing counterstrike source. I have an nvidia geforce 8300 gs...

I uninstalled it and than it is unable to "search and reinstall it".

Sounds like your graphics card got bricked.

Kiss your card goodbye. Sorry to inform you, start looking for a new one now. You won't be able to start your computer soon. :pwned:

Unless he has something ridiculously high-tech like onboard video, but it's not like every motherboard within the past 5 decades comes with something that silly.

It must have something to do with just turning the resolution all the way up a week ago and beginning to play counter strike source. It should handle it and its only a few years old.

Does anyone have any affordable suggestions? Do I need a better one than this since it apparently crapped out with source? My neighbor reccomended it for me and knows quite a bit. Eventually I need an entire new build because mapping for source is toooooo slow but i'll try to keep this rig together because I have no money.

Zeeba-G, HD57XX's are fantastic for the money now. It's about a $130 card and my 5750 runs BC2 at 1400x900 on high, with some anti-aliasing and filtering. The Source engine is unable to hitch the fps at 1400x900, with everything possible turned on and up.

That would be my recommendation, you might get others. Also good right now are the GT460s. Keep in mind these will probably not be Battlefield 3 capable cards.

GTX480 is the best card for the money.

I got the xfx Radeon HD 4670 with 1 gb memory and source games run a little faster than before. It was like 80 bucks.
