I heard about this on NPR and had to hear more.
Two radio DJs call a hospital and comically imitated voices of the royal family. The call was directed at the nurse looking over Duchess Kate, and was intended to be an obvious prank. The nurse that took the call killed herself, presumably in shame--though it's likely there were many more factors involved.

Thoughts?

So... not to be insensitive, but what the hell did they say that would provoke her to off herself?

I heard audio on the radio. All they did was ask how the Duchess was doing.

To be fair, I think she overreacted.

Or they're misattributing her suicide.

What intrigues me more is how is this news worthy? That's typical media for you isn't it; a woman commits suicide, we must put this on the headline and point fingers at people, because we have nothing better to write about!

Well, that Jonathan Ross/Russel Brand thing where they prank called Andrew Sachs was all over the news, and this is similar but it also involves the Royal Family and a suicide. So it's not surprising how the media has reacted to it.

Doesn't actually say she killed herself because of the phone call in the article, it more implies it was some other disease she had that either took her, or caused her to kill hersel.

All the news over here is saying is that her body was found.
Of course, IMO, whether the so-called "DJs" that made that call are responsible for her suicide or not, they are disgusting pieces of trash.
Their idea of a joke is to impersonate others to try and get confidential medical information, which makes them no better than paparazzi.

And the zinger? (or what would have been if not for the unfortunate death)
The reason the Duchess was in hospital in the first place was likely due to side effects from the fact she was trying to prevent the press finding out about her pregnancy because they would cause a massive shitstorm over it.

Evidence is nice. I like evidence.

And if there is no evidence, well, death is old news.

Yeah, doubt the 20 years, if any.

I heard about this on the news this morning. The presenters seemed to be carefully avoiding using the word "suicide", while implying the hell out of it.

Couldn't get a clear, unbiased answer out of the media if you tried.

What's pathetic is that this will probably fuel a group to push for criminalisation of prank calls.
