Can anyone please point me in the right direction concerning database creation for web sites? I'd like ot fulfill a task of creating a page which contains a database of properties for rent or sale... I've asked in PalTalk, I've emailed people, and nada, nathing, ZIPPO!

TIA :zonked: :zonked: :zonked:

Perhaps have a look at PHP and MySQL.

I have, and they both look like chopped suey to me...

BTW - I'm sorry to those who feel this thread has nothing to do with half-life - you are right, but I figured I'd ask around to my friends on here, because noone else seems to want to give me any serious answers - hell the people in my paintball group online even flamed me out because I created a thread about this.

ROFL...

Let me explain.

You wanna buy a house... you go to your local realtor, and he says "take a look at this site, and let me know the listing ID #'s of the houses that look intereting to you"

On this web site is a searchable (or sortable) "spreadsheet" looking database of houses... You check out links within each record, and you have your house!

Now... THAT is what I am trying to accomplish - a web page for my wife's aunt and uncle where it contains a database of properties currently on the market.

I just don't know much about it. :

Hm... well, other than just presenting it as a spreadsheet and manually updating every page for each house, I'd have to say you better learn PHP ;)

I can do PHP. Just go and read up on it, or look up PHP tutorials. You can download a free MySQL server from the site, the PHP parser is free and the Apache2 server (this, Apache1 or an equivalent) is also free.
m0p m0pIllogical.
