Ya know, I switched from WinMX to Kazaa Lite because WinMX just doesn;t seem to allow a good connection anymore... so now here I am faced with a more ANNOYING problem...

Anywhere from 30 seconds to almost to the end, you hear this loud, obnoxious, ear-drum piercing sound that I am SURE the person who shared the file put there.

Is this supposed to discourage people from downloading?
Posted 19 years ago2004-05-31 17:51:17 UTC Post #29581
It's often just a codec/rip error. Try another file.

I'm running into them MANY times... I'll be enjoying a 5:30 song, and 4:00 into it I'll hear SCR-SCR-SCR-SCR-SCR-SCR-SCR-SCR-SCREEEECH-CH-CH-CH-CH-CH-CH!!!!!!!!!!

AAAARRRGGH!!!!!!

It used to be about 30 seconds, so all I do is check the MP3 about 60 sdeconds into it, save it, and move on. But today, GunS N Roses were doin a good job till that happened... it sounded WORSE than Axel Rose LOL

I think companies actually put these 'fake' files on kazaa so people get a taste of the song then go buy it.

Or it could just be a big coincidence it happens for all the most popular songs out there.
Posted 19 years ago2004-05-31 18:07:29 UTC Post #29587
Well, I for one have made MANY MP3's from all my cd's, and not one of thm had any audio flaws in them (well, except one sounded like it was speed panning from left to right slightly)

Popular songs = more users decide it's a good idea to share it. Most users are idiot. Therefore popular songs = more likely to be screwed up than older songs, implying older and sometimes more experienced users.

I got a worm virus from a corrupt mp3 on WinMX, that's why I no longer bother with mp3's or file-sharing stuff - It's too strange for me :

I get my mp3s from #musiccity on irc.sexnet.org. Everyone has fast fileservers. It's great, haven't downloaded a bad mp3 from there ever. KaZaa, Morpheus and all those apps are bs.

...At the end of the day, I'd have to wait for ages just for one mp3 to download because I use dial-up - I mean, If I wanted the music that bad I'd just go out and get it, less hassle it seems....

Not that I can see you can get anything from a non-executable file. Perhaps it was called "Blah.mp3.exe"?

ieatmonkeychow, you know that kazaa - the program itself - is spyware, and contains gain and other gator shit?
Use Direct Connect, bittorent, or various IRC channels.

I use Kazaa Lite K++ - And I went to that IRC channel on sexnet - what is ODC?

ODC? Dunno. But sexnet's #musiccity is the king for mp3's and so is #mp3_zone.

kazaa lite isnt spyware. kazaa needs cydoor to run, so the makers of kazaa lite shoved in a dummy in its place. kazaa works, you dont geet watched. much. apart from the goverment. they see u anyway. they have cameras everywhere.

Kaaza is spyware. But there are some not-spyware versions of it. anyway those fake mp3 are horrible (i was listenong to M. Manson on FULL sound and headphones and after a 10 second a horible noise almost killed me! An i've got worms also. i was dumb to download AND open .exe :o those worms out there are usually surnova/blasters a,b,c what's the difrence :D ) well thats all i thik. and the best for music are:
1. radio 2. stream (internet radio, websites and so on) 3. full original CD's 4. go to shop and steal it :D

I think that there is also a good idea to download (in kaaza) files that are "logic", don't download music that is only 1 mb, look at the comments and look for anything that can be wrong. A good way is to play part of mp3 before you download all (you can do that in KaAzAa)

i was listenong to M. Manson on FULL sound and headphones
That didn't kill you?

It's a shame that the K++ network is being strangled. Ah, well: bring me Diet-K!

Marilyn Manson is a freak. I hate him. I think K++ is spyware free right?
Posted 19 years ago2004-06-14 09:58:23 UTC Post #33296
yes it is although i think you have to turn off one of the installation features cos it installs adware or somthing.. i cant remember its been a while since i installed it.

Here is a kazaa downloading rule-of-thumb:

1. If there are 50-100+ users for the files, it is DEFINATELY bogus
2. If you start its download and it automatically has less than a minute left (for broadband users), then it is a BUNK FILE...DO NOT DOWNLOAD!
3. If it the kbps are lower than 128, then you should look for a better quality file....ESPECIALLY if you plan to burn it to a CD later...128 can suffice on computer...but it occasionally comes out if you have decent speakers when playing a CD....
4. Only DL the song if you already own the CD that it comes from!

There is/are programs that place fake mp3 on all p2p programs (well that's not secret) , i've read about that at http://www.cdprojekt.info/default.asp in news (don't go there :D Nothing that you can understand  )
Posted 19 years ago2004-07-26 15:39:29 UTC Post #45090
I've found a nice p2p program! More on www.warez.com ;) It's not a site about warez, it's warez p2p client, very good, fast, with not as many faked mp3. Ofcourse don't forget that you need to delete all licensed products that you haven't bought from your computer after 24 h ;) That program is far better then eMule!

Buying the CD and making your own rips defies the whole purpose of downloading only the songs you want.
