Hello puny unsuspecting mortals! I just finished cs_2fort and I used a skybox (I had to! If I didn't there would be more leaks than there are people in the world) I put large blocks to cover up huge open areas that would make vis run a long time, it worked! Untill I got the MAX_PATCHES error... errrr... ugh... but not to fear! I took most of my light extured blocks, turned them into func_walls as to lower patches, it worked!I probably just barely got past the rror because I had 62761 base patces (wow). Ok, so I didn't defy the engine, but I most certainly defied the skybox.

And the r_speeds are how high?

Havent finished compiling yet. but I checked map before it was done (still did the skybox thing) and r_speeds maxed at 306 wpoly.

Compile finished, get this. R_speeds maxed out at around 580 in the playable areas. In the unplayable areas, about 650. But thats the unplayabl area, so just focus on 580. Booya, I have defeated the skybox.

Although I'm sure you're tired of hearing this, don't make this method general practice. You got lucky this time. Keep it up.

Good r_speeds there. Just try and keep under 800 and then it will work with even software mode!

Ok, map is in completed vault now, I know I didn't plan to submit it, but it got good.

How do you check r_speeds?

Type 'r_speeds 1' into your console.
