I'm not very experienced at modding, but I've messed with weapon appearance in other games. I mostly just like to mess with weapons one way or another for my own enjoyment within games.

I played a mod called PS07 for HL out of interest, it mods and adds a lot of weapons to HL, even had dual glock wielding, and when I used impulse 101 to see all the weapons I found he'd got some counter strike weapons in there too.

So I wanted to try, for the heck, at first, if I could move CS weapons into Half Life single player, not actually into a map, just into the folders necessary that I could, say, get Counter-Strike's desser eagle using the 'give' console command.

Well, naturally, I discovered theres a lot more to it in Half Life than there may have been in other games. So now I don't know what objects I need to move for sure. Theres the weapon sounds, the mdl files for whatever weapon. But I saw on tutorial sites theres a lot of code involved in weapons, in files like weapon.h located in .dlls, so I'm no longer sure where to find what and what to move to do this.

So, this may be asking for a lot, but could anybody walk me through, or show me a tutorial or faq, etc. That tells me how to manage this.

At first I wanted to do this for a bit of fun, pretty much for the heck, but now I'm hoping I might learn something about weapon modding this way.

Another good site for coding is The Wavelength. There're a couple of others, but I can't remember them right now, might be listed somewhere on Planet Half-Life.

Also, you might like to know that the mod Counter-Life is, um, Half-Life with CS weapons.
