MuzzleFlash, ive been wondering if there would be a way to put something in your map to disable saving via code. my entire part is timed to a song, luckly I have found a way so that currently, if the player saves and loads in my part it will generally pick up where it left off. but now comes the problem that if the player is being slow, he won't have enough time to disarm the bomb. and if he saved at a point where there was no possible way to get to the bomb in time, then the player would either be forced to cheat or find an older save.

so im just wondering if it would be a way to have an in-game entity coded in that could be triggered to disallow or allow quicksaving. it really doesn't sound that hard to do to me. so could you give it a quick thought?

In complely unrelated news I saw the movie Unbreakable today. I thought it was good, but not a master piece for mr. Night Shymlan(sp)

1: there is no damn change level problem

2: the Models aren't rip offs, were not going to use them until were granted permision

3: there is nothing to worry about(besides coldfeats absince), unless you give use news of worrys of your map

Everbody has it,even I do,cause we started making maps from different points in VHE.So that means that our change_levels are not in the same place.(1-2 ,2-3,3-4 , .... change levels are not in the same point/place)
Even If I didnt make my self clear you ll see it when its released!

Just work on your own map and once we're all done, one member (i'm almost certain muzzleflash agreed to do this ages ago) will take all the .rmfs, add suitable changelevels and then send us them back for us to compile.

thats not a damn problem. changelevels don't have to be at the same point in the map grid. I thought you knew something about mapping.

It seems that you really understood me with the change_level problem but except 1 thing ,they have to be on the same grid to avoid monsters corpses follow you or monsters that you didnt kill will be warped into the walls

Hunter your chart is wrong,when muzzle joins we go down??when merc gets booted it goes up?when nobody is on chapter 4 we go up?do you know how to make a chart at all?

that is what the Landmark entiry is for, learn to use it and that won't happen, unless for somereason the area your changeleveling to and from are horibly mis-matched archetecture wise

Garg: There's this nifty little entity that causes the game to be saved automatically (WHOOOT! I'M A LINK. CLICK ME!), once the player enters it. Simply put one before and one after your sequence and the problem is solved.

I know that haz, I really just need a way to make the player not be able to quicksave during it, becasue if he does, and fails, it will load the quicksave, which might end with failure again. so if we just have a save before it and a save if you complete it, well, problem solved.

oh, and hunter, could you email me the link to your beta again? id rather just give haz the link instead of attaching it to an email

And after that short problem of the HS thread not appearing, well, thats solved now.

my map has scared me even further. the final tunnel into the silo added another 500 solids.

Crap. Im still a n00b at C++, i have never coded a new single entity before.
So basically, you want to disallow quicksaving/any_kind_of_saving in your map?

As for the custom code, that includes:
  • A 100% functional monster_otis (from OppFor)
  • Dynamic Lighting (firing weapon light up the world)
  • Customizable HUD color (Pick a custom HUD color)
  • MP5 max ammo in magazine changed to 30 (default: 50)
  • MP5 bullet decals on every single shot
  • Smokepuff when a bullet hits a wall (same as in CS)
  • 1 grenade, 1 satchel charge, 1 tripmine: WYSIWYG!
