I tried Opera and then Firefox, I dont know which is better, but I'm using FireFox because I'd rather spend my free time in mapping rather than tweaking a browser and learning how to use it in a non-noobish way

really? because thats the description of firefox mop and zombieloffe gave last night on IRC. actually it was more like "yeah, opera has the same features as firefox, but the ones firefox has are better"
Posted 19 years ago2005-02-26 11:57:25 UTC Post #93753
Dude, Firefox needs more tweaking to get it to work as well as Opera does out of the box - as illustrated on the previous page.

I know that these browsers are better than IE because they block spyware and adware more efficently, but in what is one better than the other?
Out of the box, Opera had a big add and the adress bar was way lower than what I like to have it... Firefox looked more like the Internet explorer I've been using for years... But that's just my opinion, of course :D
Posted 19 years ago2005-02-26 15:12:35 UTC Post #93769
Okay, admissably Opera has an ad by default. So you use a keycode in the format such as:

w-LKdLu-7ahpb-c5Nwy-AmknA-S4DPr

... which you have purchased and it hides it. Of course, the key above isn't valid, because that'd be an insane fluke of probability. I generated it entirely at random. Yes.

You can right-click to hide toolbars.

Opera really is a better browser for anyone with intelligence who doesn't get confused by having any form of choice or having to make a decision.

Dont wanna. Firefox works fine.
You haven't tried Opera, but you are critisising it? How can you have an informed opinion when you haven't tried it?

FireFox really is the superior browser. I downloaded a beta (or "trunk") release, applied every in the MozillaZine tweaks thread, and the thing is fucking fast, beats Opera, hard.

How the hell does it "beat Opera"? The only thing I seem to be hearing is what ministeve quoted up there.
"yeah, opera has the same features as firefox, but the ones firefox has are better "
The difference between Opera and FF users is that we've got a bloody good arguement. ;)

Why don't we give up already, we could team up and flame MSIE! :D Opera + FireFox vs MSIE + AOL, haha.

on a 256k DSL connection:
IE will load a page in about 5-10 seconds
FF will load the same page in about 1-3 seconds

big difference. now i feel like i really am using broadband.
Posted 19 years ago2005-02-28 17:05:26 UTC Post #94196
FroperaFox has come! let all who stand in its path be washed in its divine light! prepare for an internet browsing experience, for which there is no preperation! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

oh, and it works on macs too.

Woot! Opera, but with the Open Source goodness and plugins of Firefox.

Might be a bit infringing of copyrights.

Oh, by the way, nobody call me a Mozilla-hater, I use Thunderbird over Opera's shoddy e-mail client thing and even Sunbird.

Microtimewarnercorporation Onlineinternetexploiter connects, but is hit by a barrage of porn popups and spyware. FroperaFox wins by default
