i want a room full of chairs, they dont have to be interactive,
however, i dont want then to slow the maps performance down.
how can i solve this, perhaps fade distance so they arnet visible from a distance?

They're not called r_speeds anymore to my knowledge.

Since you already said the solution...?

i just thought that there might be a special func but if its just fade distance, .. does ther number relate to the distance of the grid in hammer? eg: fade:3 when player is 3 units away model dissapears?

Turn on your helpers and drag out the little circles from the center of the model - The inner one determines when it begins fading and the outer one determines when it's fully invisible. Don't set numbers manually, I always get horrid results when I do :x - You can adjust them to a more round number once you've set them with the helpers.

if i have vis on, does this make the hl engine not render static models that are not visible , sayy , if a radiators around the corner, will it only render it once the player can actually see it?

Roughly. Tap 'mat_wireframe 1' into the console and ye shall see all that is being rendered.

With an occluder, it won't. Otherwise, it probably will be.
