Anybody really seen Hydra! : in hl2
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-03 13:20:30 UTC Post #101163
It was taken out along with weapons, assasin combine, female combine, models etc

I am sure an expansion will be made one day by Valve to add these.
But don't expect it to be free!

What, the weapons, assassin combine, female combine, etc, or the expansion pack itself? :P

All of it will be in the expansion pack! and the expansion will cost as much as say a Doom 3 expansion.

Where is your source for this? How can you confirm that?
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-03 14:27:09 UTC Post #101187
well it would be great if this was true
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-03 14:49:35 UTC Post #101192
He doesn't have a source, he's just speculating.

I like the new avatar, by the way, even if the English is a little strange :). It should be "a snark gets burnt", and "help save (not saving) the snarks". Just for your information.

There is an expansion being released, one would expect. It's inevitable. If there isn't, it's horrible planning by VALVe :p.

I meant his source for saying it'd be a particular amount of money. I am, as you are, sure that there'll be an expansion (or two) ? and I believe I read something from Mr. Newell along those lines earlier in an old interview.

Tis a joke because Steam are EVIL!

But I would imagine some evil plot.

I do believe we'll see the Hydra sometime in the future though.
Too bad it never appeared in HL2.

AND NO ICHTY!
i'll never forgive Valve for that :x

The female combine will be one cheap slut.

Icky was in a little sequence though.
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-03 22:56:16 UTC Post #101295
Yeah, in the beginning, but only as a model, not really a monster you would have to fight...

Afaik, the upcoming expansion is hardware specific: only those with high-end machines can run it.

That's Lost Coast to my knowledge, Ant, and I think it's only some additional content (materials) and a level, not a full-fledged expansion. (Read: It's more of an HDR demo.) I assume the expansion will have an HDR option, though, for people with higher-end systems.

Ah, ok. So it's like a mini-expansion. ;)

Yeah, it's pretty much just a little show-off thing. To my knowledge, it's free. I hope I can run it :).

For people curious about HDR, have a look at this pretty thing.

they should have left some of that stuff in the game. it would have made it alot funner and more exciting. i was hoping to come across the guass gun in hl2 but i never did :( i loved that gun in hl1. had enough power to splatter a roomful of aliens (or scientists, if you preffered) and blow you 20 feet back :D
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-04 06:13:17 UTC Post #101382
A lot of stuff was removed after the source code leak. Thank the hacker who's now residing in jail.

Funny story about that, did you hear how they caught him? Gabe Newell managed to contact him via email and pretended to hire him to work at VALVe for security of code and stuff. So the guy, being incredibly ecstatic, jumped on a plane and flew to America where he was met by police as soon as he stepped off the place.

Just on HDR:

Doug Lombardi Quotes:

High-Dynamic Range Lighting is basically the last piece of chasing really good lighting in a digital world. What we?re doing here is completing the promise when we said back in the old days, ?We?re going to have real-time lighting.?

It?ll definitely come out this spring. We don?t have an exact date just yet, but like I said it?ll be made available as a free update to all Half-Life 2 owners probably within the next four to eight weeks.

Free update. Nice words. ;)

Erm, yeah.

Doug Lombardi Quotes:

Half-Life 2 will be released in September

Half-Life 2 will be here for the holiday season

You'll have to come 'round and play it :P

Try the other demo, the one I posted. You might be able to run it, but I seem to remember something about DX9 hardware for floating-point calcs.

I doubt it'd work for lower end cards. I can't run DX9's shaders in HL2, so I think there's no chance with that demo.

I'm glad I own a great computer then :D

It will be great though but the old maps will have to be redone with the new lighting!

I dont think they will include the hydra. You can read the reason on the strat guide.
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-04 10:09:48 UTC Post #101434
Not necessarily, habboi. They could likely use the present light data and just examine it to apply the post-draw glare, etc.

But, the designer of the monster, wich worked over a half year on it. Decided to scrap it because it was an extremely boring gameplay.
