Sup guys I've been working on a SP map for Half-Life 2 to increase my mapping skills. This isn't related to Almanta but it's fun and it's my best map as of yet. =)

Here are some screeshots:

I've been playing and playing and replaying to make this a really fun map. It should be released by the weekend. =)

Looks like it might be a fairly decent start.

You should use a higher displacement (ie 4) for the terrain, though, and make it smoother and more realistic - Make it extend out, too with a 3d skybox. The other thing is that the level seems dependent on props - You should experiment more with some architectural (ie brushwork) effects. And play around with some different lighting, and sprites - Everything's sort of white and flat at the mo' ;(

Yeah I'm working mostly on placement right now. I need to go through some architecture books to really make it look nicer =x Also I can't change the displacment anymore and that mountain IS only 1/8 of the actual skybox. The skybox is huge (but doesn't lag up the game) =o I could smooth out the terrain though. =)

Also, the doors are all kick-able. You get the gravity gun in the beginning to knock down the first door which reveals a guard. I also figured out cubemaps and for everybody information, the map is a base located on a mountain (above a mountain, actually, and supported by pillars below which will be added later)

Heh it took me a bit to understand cubemaps but their easy as pie :P

As for your map, it looks good, Not much to see really because you are obviously hiding whats behind you because it is not finished.

When you need help with your mod call me on msn ;)

Whats the theme by the way of this map, it looks like a fortress high up in the sky.

It's a base on a mountain. =P

Although I might be changing that to something else as I can't get the skybox where I want it. (I'll be keeping saving the skybox regardless though because it looks so awesome).

But yeah it's really awesome =X

New screenshots! This first part of the map is done. (The level will be 3 maps long including a jeep map where you run from the combine.)

I think it turned out pretty good =)

I have to be honest. From those screenshots, I am not a bit inspired. The architecture looks quite bland, and I think there are a few lights without a source (no light fixture models).

Every single light has a fixture. They're just kind of blotted out by the point_light.

Also, the building this is in is a small abandoned power facility. You're in a room hiding when the combine come in and try to ruin your shit. =/

This level will be followed with a jeep map and then the end will be a large building with a lot of combine.

I think it looks bland as well.

Perhaps make more open areas with lots of good clipping.
