96a2107's theory:

I belive that religion is the way someone finds a way too hold onto life and stay sane, for instance i respect every religion for being so succesful in being a medium for people to find the best in themselfs, this isnt because of a "Higher being" but because most people need to be lead and educated in someway too keep themself sane. I do belive in jesus but i dont belive in god, i belive jesus and his dicpilies were a group off people who came up with a very good way too hold onto life and stay sane that was very very successfull and so has been adopted by people for over 2000 years now.

On this basis my religion is my family and friends because without them i would definitly go mad, this is the reason that more and more people are turning away from conventional religion and turning to other ways of keeping a grip on life, the spread of people turning away from more conventional religions is greater in developed countrys because people simply dont need this form of religion to stay self fullfilled because there are plenty of other ways to do it in leisure and friendship etc. But in lesser developed countrys religion is a massive driving force because people still need the christian etc method of keeeping themselfs self fullfilled.

Whats everyone elses view?

No-one can say Jesus didn't exist because there is evidence that he was a real person. However, there is no evidence for a God, you need faith to believe in him/her/it.

I sayed that i belive jesus 'was' real, i dont belive he was holy though, he was just a smart man with a good idea that worked great but is beigining to lose its appeal these days

'Faith' - my definition - a method a person/group uses to give themslelfs a meaning in life.

I believe that religion was created many years ago as a way of gaining total control over the masses. It's classic mind control, tell someone at a young age that they'll burn and go to hell and suffer eternally unless they do exactly as a bunch of men in long frocks tell them. Sad.

Many religions are the same. Heaven, Valhalla, that place where Islamic extremests think they go to if they blow themselves up, all sorts. There is a common pattern involved, and that pattern is the involvement with sun worship. The sun worship element comes from thousands of years ago after the ancient civilisations, the Sumerians, Babylonians, migrated to various parts of the world. It is an lesser-known fact that the New Testiment and all of it's characters were invented by a Roman aristocratic family, the Pisos. Jesus is a symbol of the sun. All other 'deities' that share the same month of birth are also sun symbols.

There is so much out there to suggest that this is the case that it is unbelievable. I mean think about it, why would they teach kids at school that there is no such thing as a man called Jesus and that he was actually just a symbol of the sun, and that the crucifixtion symbolised the sun's death during the eclipse, and that the resurrection symbolised the sun's return from darkness. (It even says in the Gospel that it went dark during this period.) The tombstone which was rolled over may have represented the rolling over effect of the moon during the eclipse. The grotto, cave is an ancient druid symbol of the woman's minge! The crown of thorns represnts the halo, as seen during the eclipse, known as the 'corona', hence we get the name 'coronation', when one is 'crowned'.

I believe that religion controls people, but only because other people take over and think they can speak for god for their own end.

I don't know who said it but "God is always on the side of the majority" holds true. I believe in Jesus' teachings etc but doubt whether or not he was gods son. During the popes funeral, they made an interesting point that he is, and perhaps the one before him were the only popes elected without heavy intervention from political rulers.

We'll know whether or not this remains for the next one ie if he says "God hates muslims, and stealing oil is good" or something :P

Religions are chinese whispers from what was true, and warped, bribed and watered down to justify what certain influencial people want.

Read the new testament, its all good, even if your not religious. Criticise it too, don't just let it fill your head. Simple things like the way Pilate 'washed his hands' etc. I think thats the first instance of when god was sold out to asslick politicians and rulers.
  • goes off to form his own religion, the Mephitarian Church of God
